With the launch of Stranded Deep on PS4 and Xbox One, fans are approaching the game with renewed vigor. That said, hardcore survival games such as this don't always explain everything the player needs to know to survive, and there are often many ways to use a given material. Wood is a perfect example of one such material.

Though wood chopped from trees can be further broken down into sticks for fueling fires, crafting tools, and more, the logs can also be repurposed into planks with which to build and craft other useful items. Stranded Deep players have likely come across several planks during their travels, but a planking station allows players to craft them.

Though the planking station requires a hefty amount of materials to create, it is well worth the effort should the player plan on building structures or crafting certain useful items such as farm plots and rafts.

Stranded Deep - How to Craft a Plank Station

The recipe for the plank station can be found in the crafting menu like anything else, and requires a refined axe, a crude hammer, four sticks, a log, and one lashing. For the most part, these materials are easy to obtain or craft, but players should be sure not to break down chopped wood into sticks when trying to get the log. This does require a refined axe, however, so early on it will be difficult to craft. After creating the plank station, the player can use it to turn logs into planks allowing further crafting.

After creating the plank station, using it to make planks is incredibly simple. Bring a log over to the plank station and open the crafting menu. Navigate over to tools and towards the bottom of the list players should find plank. Creating planks simply requires one log per plank and for the player to be near the planking station. After creating the planks, called plank scraps, the player can use them to create rafts, farming plots, or buildings, so they certainly come in handy in the long run.

Hopefully creating a plank station will help further player's quest for survival by providing them with shelter, new methods of travel, and sustainable food, and given the relative ease of creating planks after crafting the plank station, players shouldn't find themselves wanting for planks anymore.

Stranded Deep is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
