Hitting PC before launching on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One last year, Stranded Deep washes players up on a desert island and tasks them with finding a way to escape. Although the popular survival title allows players to team up in split-screen co-op, one of the biggest requests from the game's community has been the addition of online multiplayer.
Today, developer Beam Team announced that it's officially adding the feature to Stranded Deep, confirming that online co-op is set to debut in a free update. Players won't even need to wait too long to start their multiplayer survival adventure, as the update will make its way to PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, and Epic Games tomorrow.
Alongside the reveal, Beam Team also dropped a new trailer to celebrate the launch, as well as a post on the PlayStation Blog. The latter is penned by the studio's co-founder, Sam Edwards, who addresses the community's desire to play online and shows off some new images. Edwards finishes the statement by thanking the game's fanbase, noting that the community has already grown far beyond what the team expected when it started work on Stranded Deep.
As for the trailer, it offers a more meaty look at the mode in action, as two survivors arrive on the game's main island and do their best to survive. Along the way, the footage shows them building shelters, collecting resources, fighting giant sea creatures, and riding helicopters. It concludes with a brief look at the pair escaping together, confirming that players will be able to complete the entire game with a partner. The addition of online multiplayer is sure to bring a lot of fans back to the game, with the community getting their long-requested wish.

After a devastating plane crash, players find themselves stranded on a tiny island with very few resources. They'll have to rely on their wits and craftable tools to figure out an escape route, all the while ensuring they survive attacks from deadly animals and other threats.
