Marvelous's farming simulation game Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town has slowly been building up hype for its launch in March 2021. Previous updates that drew fan attention included the reveal of new Olive Town NPCs that players will meet in the game. And now, the development team has recently announced a new expansion pass that will bring more content into the title after its release, particularly the return of marriage candidates from previous games.
For fans of the Story of Seasons series, marriage candidates are a big deal. Most players often feel incentivized to keep going with the seemingly repetitive gameplay just to win their favorite characters' hearts. And the makers of Pioneers of Olive Town seem to know about this fan fascination, even highlighting the Story of Seasons' new bachelors and bachelorettes in their own separate videos. However, with the new expansion pass bringing back some of the former marriage candidates, players of the previous titles will now feel more inclined to pick up the new game.
In the official announcement, the DLC pass will include three expansion packs - the "Windswept Falls Expansion Pack," the "Terracotta Oasis Expansion Pack," and the "Twilight Isle Expansion Pack." Each of these packs will bring in four familiar Story of Seasons characters, with two being a male and female marriage candidate, and familiar places into Olive Town.
Aside from returning marriage candidates, the expansion pass will also give players new story scenarios outside of the Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town main story. With farming simulation gameplay that can get relatively dull after some time, this gives fans something new and exciting to look forward to.
The expansion pass will also come with different costumes for the player's avatar, adding to the Story of Seasons' variety of customization options. The expansion pass has an individual price of $19.99 USD, but can be bundled with the digital edition of the game. Pre-orders will soon be available on the Nintendo eShop.
Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town will be released on March 23, 2021 on the Nintendo Switch.
