Paradox Interactive has officially confirmed that the first part Stellaris: Console Edition's second expansion pass, the Synthetic Dawn Story Pack, is launching on May 12.

Stellaris: Console Edition launched back in 2019, though the game had been around for the PC for longer. The full second expansion pass has more updates and DLC coming throughout the 2020 year, with Synthetic Dawn being the first of three add-ons.

The Synthetic Dawn Story Pack allows players to begin Stellaris as a machine empire (essentially a robot race), complete with new story events and unique mechanics allowing players to spread their empire out across the galaxy. Both Synthetic Dawn and the free 2.2 update is coming in May, with the other DLC--Apocalypse Expansion and Humanoids Species Pack--scheduled for 2020, although their exact release dates are currently unknown.

The Apocalypse expansion allows players to develop world-destroying weapons, fight (or join) warmongering space pirates, and offers new scenarios for intergalactic space battles. The Humanoid Species Pack will bring new portraits and ship models for players wanting to take on the galaxy as either a member of the human race or a race that roughly resembles humans.

The full Stellaris expansion pass (including all three DLC) will be available to purchase for $24.99 starting May 12, when players can also begin building their indomitable space empire.

Stellaris: Console Edition is available on PS4 and Xbox One.
