This latest Steam sale event is called Survival Fest, and as the name implies, it's celebrating the prominent Survival genre with discounts up to 75% off on many of the biggest titles. Immersive survival horror game The Forest is 75% off along with the Terraria-in-space survival crafting game Starbound. City builders with survival themes are also included in the sale, with a 75% discount on both Northgard and Frostpunk. Popular multiplayer games like DayZ and Ark: Survival Evolved are discounted at 40% and 67% respectively, while the highly atmospheric aquatic survival game Subnautica is available for 50% off. Newer games like May 2022's V Rising also make an appearance with promotional discounts.
Alongside the many discounted games during Survival Fest is a showcase of playable demos for upcoming releases in the survival genre. Survival crafting games such as The Planet Crafter, Survival: Fountain of Youth, Farworld Pioneers, and Dysterra have free demos available for players to try. Also listed in the "most downloaded demos" category is Ixion, an interesting space station management game where players must maintain a space station and its inhabitants while seeking out a new home. Clanfolk also has a demo available, allowing players to try out the medieval colony management game that has been frequently compared to the likes of Rimworld.
