The Steam Autumn Sale 2022 is set to kick off this week, so gamers will once again be ready to empty their collective wallets on a ton of discounted releases. Gabe Newell's Steam storefront is one of the biggest things to happen to PC gaming, with the client becoming the most popular way to buy and play games. Aside from being the first of its kind, one thing that makes Steam so massive in the gaming community is the continued, and above all frequent, sale events that make games cheap for a brief period.

All sorts of titles get discounted during the annual Steam sales. Last year, the Steam Autumn Sale 2021 saw games like Cyberpunk 2077, Deathloop, Valve's own Half-Life: Alyx, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and Red Dead Redemption 2 have their prices reduced. And that's just a small sample of what went on sale. For those who are new to Steam, these events are always exciting for PC gamers, and the next one is just around the corner.

In a new video uploaded to the Steam YouTube channel, the dates for the Autumn sale were announced. Starting at 10 AM PST on Tuesday, November 22 through November 29, a bunch of games will be going on sale. Essentially, this means people will have a week to check out what's on offer. As is often the case with these things, there's no way to know all the games that will be having their prices reduced, but the video showcases games like Hitman 3, Stray, V Rising, and Slime Rancher 2, and links to them in its description. Newcomers and veterans alike will be hard pressed to not come across at least one or two games on sale that they'll want to pick up.

On top of that, the Autumn Sale is also when Steam Award nominations are announced, and users will be invited to nominate their favorite games in a number of categories, such as Best Soundtrack, Most Innovative Gameplay, and even the Best Game You Suck At award. This means there will be something else going on during the sale event for those who aren't looking to buy or haven't found anything to their liking.

While storefronts like Epic Games Store are better for free video games, there's no denying the sheer dominance Steam has over the PC market. It's been a key part of the industry for nearly 20 years, allowing users to conveniently pay for and download releases, thanks to its arrival at a critical point when digital gaming was just starting to take off.
