One of the most anticipated Microsoft exclusives, State of Decay 2, has released a new trailer at PAX East in Boston. Lately, Microsoft and Undead Labs have not been shy when it comes to unveiling new info about the game, and with the release date getting closer they are revealing more tidbits for hungry gamers to bite on.

State of Decay 2’s new trailer is short, unlike the 25 minutes of coop gameplay released not too long ago, but offers glimpses of some of the features fans have to look forward to. The video focuses on base building, stealth combat, and also touches a little bit on the new survivor system.

Players are shown the various micromanagement tasks they can accomplish in-game, such as planting a garden or creating different explosives at the mechanic shop. At other times, the focus is on promoting the right survivor to lead the community based on their individual skills.

The rest of the video showcases stealth and gunplay, and how interacting with the environment in positive ways leads to a growth in influence. The scenarios range from player driven ambushes to vehicular escapes, and escalated situations where the player can seem completely overwhelmed.

Overall, the trailer is very brief and doesn’t go into too much detail on most of the in-game components. The survivor system is only touched upon momentarily and cooperative features are also completely absent in the new trailer. However, fans shouldn’t find this discouraging, as there is a bevy of information already available on the upcoming game.

More in-depth details on the survivor system have already been revealed, including how backstories factor into character skills. Details on the game's cooperative options have also already been fleshed out; this trailer most likely serves to get players excited to traverse this zombie sandbox world, as well as show how polished the product is.

With the release of the game next month, Undead Labs and Microsoft have only promotion left ahead of them. The standard edition is already at a low $30 and the ultimate edition retails for $50. For those not willing to bite, they’ll be able to try it on release day if they subscribe to Xbox Game Pass.

State of Decay 2 will release May 22nd, 2018 for PC and Xbox One.
