A recent fan theory speculates that Starfield, the hotly anticipated space game from Bethesda, could be launching this April in conjunction with the annually held International Day of Human Space Flight. Considered to be one of the most eagerly awaited video games of 2023, the upcoming sci-fi RPG represents the first brand-new IP from the Skyrim and Fallout studio in 25 years, so many are keen to see what the Maryland-based developer has to offer. It's unfortunate that the game had to be delayed, but hopefully it won't be long before it's finally unleashed.

In fact, it's looking like Starfield is still on track to release in the first half of 2023, though there's still no indication on exactly when it will arrive. It was originally scheduled to come out in November 2022 but sadly had to be delayed, along with the Bethesda-published Redfall, so the teams could continue to work on both projects and make them the best versions of themselves before release. Given this, many are speculating about when Starfield will finally hit digital storefronts, and there's a new popular theory being bandied around at the moment.

According to a Reddit thread, a number of fans believe Starfield will launch on the International Day of Human Space Flight, April 12, which is the date the first human space flight occurred back in 1961. Given the heavy space themes of the game, some may feel this would be a perfect time for it to come out. As user Tecally points out, Bethesda is known for launching titles on significant dates, such as Fallout 4 coming out on November 10, which is just one day ahead of Veterans Day. However, some feel the game could come out even sooner, possibly as early as March. Of course, all of this is speculation and there's no indication either of these will be when the developer releases Starfield, but fans seem hopeful that Bethesda has a meaningful launch window in mind.

Many people are expecting Starfield to be Skyrim in space, though Xbox boss Matt Booty has said the game will be much more than that. Bethesda already has an enormous reputation for creating epic open-worlds with a lot of NPCs and quests. With this upcoming game being set in space and featuring over a thousand planets to explore, it will be interesting to see what the finished product will look and play like.

In fact, the studio is very busy in general at the moment, with a lot of Bethesda projects currently in the pipeline. While Starfield is undoubtedly one that many are looking forward to, there is equal anticipation for The Elder Scrolls 6, especially given how old Skyrim is now, so maybe the developer will finally give some updates on that soon.
