Todd Howard of Bethesda talks with IGN about Starfield, the AAA developer's upcoming, epic role-playing, action-adventure game that fans have been looking forward to for years. "It's easily our most ambitious game ever. Like our previous games, it's an epic role-playing game where you get to be who you want and go where you want, but this time, you'll be exploring space." Like the Elder Scrolls games, it seems that Starfield will also feature a vast, open world that players will be able to get lost in for hundreds of hours of playtime.

As with most Bethesda games, the world of Starfield is bound to be enormous and full of cities and settlements that are vibrant, full of life, buzzing with activity, and full of different missions and quests available for the player. The capital city in the game, New Atlantis, is huge and full of people, events, varied settings, and a myriad of other dynamic things.

Talking to IGN, Todd Howard, Bethesda's director and executive producer, remarks that one of the four main cities of Starfield, New Atlantis, is bigger than any city from Skyrim, Fallout, or any other game that the studio has ever made. He indicates that New Atlantis is the headquarters of Constellation, which is "the faction that you join that is the last group of space explorers – kind of this NASA-meets-Indiana Jones-meets-The League of Extraordinary Gentleman [group]." Howard also alludes to a main story that spans 30 to 40 hours and has most of the main quest's start and stop points taking place in New Atlantis.

The Bethesda Showcase is a wealth of information and Todd Howard did say during it that Starfield players would be able to visit over a thousand different planets in the vast universe of the game, though there is still some speculation about whether the Milky Way Galaxy will be in the game or not. It is clear, though, that the game's cities will be dynamic settlements with a myriad of characters to meet and places to explore.

Fans are often excited to learn more information about highly anticipated games like Starfield, and Todd Howard and Bethesda have delivered. It is clear that the team at Bethesda is working hard to make Starfield visually impressive and graphically complex, and a game that keeps players engaged in a compelling story full of choice, combat, and adventure.

It is true that Starfield is not launching until 2023 and fans will have to wait quite a bit longer before they are able to sink their teeth into it. However, more information about the game's world and cities is welcome and likely to strike excitement and curiosity in players' minds. Hopefully, more information about the game is released soon.

Starfield is scheduled to release in early 2023 on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
