The Volcano Dungeon is part of Stardew Valley's recent Version 1.5 update available to PC players. It's one of Stardew Valley's most difficult dungeons yet and requires specific tactics to get through. Here's how players can reach the bottom of the Volcano Dungeon.

Along with the Volcano Dungeon, Stardew Valley recently introduced a ton of new late-game content, such as Ginger Island and the Beach Farm layout. After unlocking Ginger Island by fixing up Willy's boat, the Volcano Dungeon can be found on the island's north side. Unlike Stardew Valley's other dungeons, this one only has 10 levels, with 8 of them being randomized. After completing the dungeon, players will gain access to the gate at the bottom-right corner in the Volcano Dungeon's lobby.

What to Bring Into the Volcano Dungeon

The monsters introduced with Stardew Valley's 1.5 update are difficult, with most of them having between 215 to 400 health. As far as weapons go, players will want to make sure they have access to one or two that do at least 60 damage, ideally higher, such as the Infinity weapons or a Galaxy Hammer or Sword. Some monsters will shoot fire from the lava so players may want to bring a Slingshot, but it's not required.

Likewise, it's also important to bring an adequate amount of food items that will restore large chunks of health. Unlike the Mines in Pelican Town, the Volcano Dungeon doesn't have ladders or instant exits at every level. While it's only 10 levels deep, plan accordingly. Bringing a large stack (15+) of a powerful, homecooked recipe that increases speed and defense is recommended.

Secondly, bringing in a Watering Can is required. Watering Cans can be used to cool the lava and create pathways, which will need to be done to enter the first floor of the Volcano Dungeon. At least a Steel Watering Can is recommended for the journey but players may want a higher level one to create wider berths. The Iridium Can is the best for this task. Otherwise, the player will only need a strong Pickaxe to mine ore veins and rocks.

Volcano Dungeon's Puzzles

In the Volcano Dungeon, some floors require the player to hit switches to open gated doors, similar to the one at the entrance of the dungeon. However, each level is randomized, except for levels 5 and 10, including the doors. But each door will have small red or green dots to indicate if the buttons have been pressed. Once all dots are green, the player can proceed to the next level.

Levels 5 and 10 of Volcano Dungeon

On the 5th level of Volcano Dungeon, the player can give the parrot 5 Golden Walnuts for an exit shortcut. There's also a shop on this floor with a number of useful items, like the Cinderclown Shoes. These offer a high buff to defense and immunity but cost 100 Cinder Shards. Some recipes can also be purchased at this shop. Make sure to also fill up the Watering Can here before continuing.

In addition to an exit to the entrance, the 10th level contains a forge where players can enhance their weapons with various gems like the Prismatic Shard gained in the same area. It does take payment in the form of Cinder Shards, however. Here, players can also fish in the magma area to get special fish such as the Laval Eel. Players can revisit the forge by going through the gated door in the lobby.
