A pair of fans recently showed off their nod to the game by including Stardew Valley’s Mermaid’s Pendant in their engagement photos.
Stardew Valley is an open-ended country-life RPG that allows players to pursue relationships and friendships with the people in the town. The Mermaid’s Pendant is a key piece of this, allowing players to propose marriage. Engagement photo sessions are typically booked to provide an engaged couple with photographs for their upcoming save the dates and invitations for their wedding.
This post by Reddit user lagerlady is a memorable nod to those players that have pursued relationships in Stardew Valley. In the single photograph in the post, they show themselves holding hands with their partner on the beach. As part of this engagement photo session, lagerlady made sure to include a real-life version of the Mermaid’s Pendant in their hands. Presenting this item to a character in the game that players have accumulated ten hearts with acts as a proposal and so it fits perfectly in this real-life moment. Combining the symbol of engagement with their actual engagement photo session shows true dedication to Stardew Valley.
Once the player has achieved ten hearts with one of Stardew Valley's bachelors or bachelorettes and upgraded their home once, they can purchase the Mermaid’s Pendant from the Old Mariner on the east side of the beach for 5,000 gold. The original poster only mentions that they got this real-life version online but, as the game has been popular since its release in 2016, it shouldn’t be too much of a challenge to track down.
Getting married to one of the eligible characters in Stardew Valley can be greatly beneficial to a player. A player’s spouse can remove exhaustion from the energy bar, give gifts like breakfast and dinner dishes, and even maintain the farm while players focus on other things.
