There are few indie success stories quite as huge as the farming/life simulation game Stardew Valley, as at the beginning of 2020 its originally solo developer Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone announced Stardew Valley had sold 10 million copies. Now, Barone seems to be teasing the likelihood of the game getting a physical release sometime in the near future.

In response to a fan on Twitter who goes by Beigegamer, Barone said there is a "good chance" that Stardew Valley might get a physical release on the Nintendo Switch outside of Japan. While this is by no means a hard guarantee, the tone suggested by his ending the statement in an ellipsis suggests it has at least been considered.

After the game first released in 2016, it has been put out on a variety of platforms and consistently updated with new content. In fact, Barone has talked about even more updates in the works that will add things like bananas into Stardew Valley.

At the same time, the game's success and widespread appeal has inspired Barone to start working on other games set in the same universe, so there is plenty for Stardew Valley fans to look forward to even if a physical release is not actually planned.

Stardew Valley is out now for Android, iOS, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
