Stardew Valley originally released in 2016 and has enjoyed a number of major updates since then, including one that added multiplayer support to the simulation game. Stardew Valley has persisted as one of the most popular indie games ever made, but it seems that it may be done getting big new updates.

Stardew Valley creator Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone currently has no plans for future Stardew Valley updates. As revealed in an interview with VGKami, ConcernedApe isn't ruling out the possibility that Stardew Valley could get another update at some point down the road, but doesn't think that the game really needs to have more content added to it at this point. However, he added "there's always room for improvement," so while there are currently no plans for more Stardew Valley updates, the door isn't being closed on the game completely.

Stardew Valley is a hugely popular game and it's safe to say many fans would be excited if it received more content and updates, but others may want ConcernedApe to focus on his next game instead. The recently revealed Haunted Chocolatier looks as though it will hugely appeal to Stardew Valley fans, though the jury is still out on whether or not the game will reach the dizzying heights of its predecessor.

For those who haven't been following Haunted Chocolatier, it's about players working at a chocolate shop staffed by ghosts. ConcernedApe has summed up the Haunted Chocolatier gameplay loop as being about getting ingredients, making chocolate, and running the shop. ConcernedApe hasn't provided a release window for the game, so it's possible that fans of his work will be waiting quite a long time to get their hands on it.

Haunted Chocolatier is exploring more supernatural elements than the more-grounded Stardew Valley, but the games will still have a lot in common. Haunted Chocolatier screenshots have confirmed that the game will look a lot like Stardew Valley art style-wise, and not only that, but the games will share some gameplay features.

For example, it's been confirmed that Haunted Chocolatier characters will have relationships similar to what's seen in Stardew Valley. There's no release date in sight for the game, though, so fans may have to wait a bit before finding out what other similarities the two games may share, and how Haunted Chocolatier will stand apart from Stardew Valley. In the meantime, fans of ConcernedApe's work can continue playing Stardew Valley, even if they don't necessarily have any major new updates to look forward to.

Stardew Valley is out now for mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One and legacy platforms.
