The incredibly intricate indie simulation title Stardew Valley has been around for about six years now, and in that time, it's made its mark on the video game community. Although the game takes some inspiration from existing titles, especially Harvest Moon, it has made itself known for its own merits. One Stardew Valley mod is now expanding the game's themes of exploration and fantastical worldbuilding by taking players to the moon.

There are a variety of mysteries found in Stardew Valley, including some that are still unsolved today. However, although at least one hidden secret does have to do with the game's moon, the base Stardew Valley game won't allow players to visit the moon.

Redditor spacechase0 recently shared the first version of an in-progress mod that allows Stardew Valley players to visit the moon. Although there are a variety of Stardew Valley mods available on Nexus Mods, this mod stands out for its creative premise. Not only does the Moon Misadventures mod allow players to visit the moon, but it also presents players with a new dungeon, two new tool tiers, a new type of accessory and an associated slot for it, and more.

While real-life trips to the moon require careful planning, a dedicated team, and space suits, Moon Misadventures appears to take a more fantastical approach to exploring the moon. The image attached to spacechase0's announcement shows a player character walking between two twisted statues, toward an arched doorway. The minimap appears to display more of the rounded building and a large crater. According to spacechase0, the dungeon found on the moon features more difficult monsters than Stardew Valley's Volcano Dungeon and may be a more difficult dungeon to clear overall.

The mod description on Nexus Mods states that the Moon Misadventures mod allows players to visit the Dwarf and repair an ancient vehicle that belongs to him. The task requires a significant amount of late-game materials, giving endgame players a goal to work toward. Once the vehicle is repaired, players can use it to visit the moon for a new challenge. The mod is still a work in progress, but apparently, most of the other things that can be found in the mod require unique resources only found on the moon.

Stardew Valley is available now on mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One and legacy platforms.
