Polyamorous fans of the farming simulator Stardew Valley can rejoice as a mod allowing players to be married to almost every villager at the same time has been released and gaining traction thanks to a video on TikTok. The indie title has retained popularity since its release in 2016, and videos like this show how the community has remained strong over a long period. This is especially evident with Stardew Valley's popularity on Switch likely spawned a renaissance for games emphasizing farming on the console.

Among Stardew Valley's key draws is bonding with the other residents of Pelican Town, all of whom have their own unique quirks that appeal to different groups of people who play it. These differing relationships all start as basic acquaintances but grow into deep friendships or romances that blossom into marriage. While the game is LGBT+ inclusive with all available bachelors and bachelorettes being romantic options regardless of gender, having multiple partners at the same time is not possible.

A mod for the game aptly titled "Multiple Spouses" changes this, and streamer HelloYinny demonstrates this on her TikTok with a video showing all 23 of her character's spouses heading to bed in a line. The one who stands out the most is Victor since he lags behind the rest of the pack and HelloYinny ushers him to join with everyone else. Without the mod, Stardew Valley only has 12 potential romances, but besides opening up the potential for more than one partner, the mod also features the ability to date singles not typically available. This would mean that, even if a player is not interested in having multiple partners, they would still get value out of the mod if they would like their character to settle down with someone the game did not intend to let them romance.

One of the big appeals that Stardew Valley has is in its cast, whose complex personalities make them engaging to grow connected to, and those interested in romance might be torn between who to choose. With "Multiple Spouses" installed, polyamorous players or players indecisive on who to pick are able to be happy with everyone they choose. When taken to the extreme as HelloYinny demonstrates, being married to almost the entirety of Pelican Town has the unintended side effect of having multiple partners spilling out of the bed and sleeping on the floor.

With creator Eric Barone, also known as ConcernedApe, focused on his next game Haunted Chocolatier, official support for polyamorous relationships in Stardew Valley is slim to none. Seeing a glimpse into its potential with the mod is still interesting, and taking things to the extreme as HelloYinny does leads to hilarious results.

Stardew Valley is out now for PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, mobile, and legacy devices.
