Table of contents

Stardew Valley has a history of having a ton of content added to it over the course of its lifespan. As part of the 1.5 Update in December 2020, players got the opportunity to explore Ginger Island, where a host of new activities became available to the player.

After repairing the boat at Willy's Fish Shop, players can go out to the Fern Islands archipelago and visit this island for a whole new batch of items to harvest or purchase. Among the exclusive items on the island is the Golden Coconut, which can be retrieved and used in many ways.

2 How To Find A Golden Coconut

There are a handful of ways that players can hunt down Golden Coconuts. The straightforward method is to harvest palm trees on Ginger Island. By either shaking or chopping down the tree, there is a small chance that the player will receive a Golden Coconut. If the player can see a coconut before they shake the tree, there is a 10% chance it will be golden.

Other locations to look are by digging Artifact Spots on the island or by fishing in a Blue Discus Fish Pond that has a population of nine or more. After finding and opening at least one Golden Coconut, players can visit the Island Trader and purchase another for the price of 10 coconuts in all.

1 What To Do With A Golden Coconut

Golden Coconuts in Stardew Valley

Golden Coconuts have value in that they can be broken open with the chance of something being inside. To do this, players must visit Clint the Blacksmith on the right side of Pelican Town where he will do this for only 25 gold. This is the only way the coconut can be broken into as the Geode Crusher will only break open Geodes.

The first coconut opened will always have a Golden Walnut inside. After this, there is a variety of different items that could be in there. This includes:

  • Banana Sapling (1/7 chance of spawning)
  • Mango Sapling (1/7 chance of spawning)
  • Pineapple Sapling (1/7 chance of spawning)
  • Taro Tuber (1/7 chance of spawning)
  • Mahogany Seed (1/7 chance of spawning)
  • Fossilized Skull (1/7 chance of spawning)
  • Iridium Ore (1/7 chance of spawning)
  • Golden Helmet (1/20 chance of spawning, will only spawn once)

For players who are willing to risk giving up on the prize inside, Golden Coconuts can also be made into a clothing item. By using the Sewing Machine on the coconuts, players can get an Island Bikini. It can also be used as a yellow dye at the dye pots.

Despite its golden exterior, no one in Stardew Valley wants to receive the Golden Coconuts as a gift. In fact, everyone will hate it and this could negatively impact friends' points that have been received. This item can also not be sold, so if players want to do anything with it, the best case is to either visit Clint or a Sewing Machine.

Stardew Valley is available on PC, Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
