As players build up their farms in Stardew Valley, they will gain the ability to raise many different animals in special barn buildings. While the majority of Stardew Valley's animals can be purchased through Marnie, there are some that can only be gotten through special means.

One of the special animals that even some seasoned Stardew Valley players may not know about are dinosaurs. Some may already know about the Pepper Rex enemies that can be found in Skull Cavern, but not the dinosaurs that players can raise in their coops on their farms.

Dinosaurs kept in coops produce dinosaur eggs that can be incubated to make more dinosaurs, sold at a base price of 350g, donated to the museum, or be made into dinosaur mayonnaise that can be sold at a base price of 800g.

There are a few different ways for players to get their first dinosaur egg so they can get even more from the hatched dinosaur. Thanks to the egg technically being considered an artifact due to it being able to be donated to the Stardew Valley museum, players have a chance to find a dinosaur egg digging up artifact spots and fishing up treasure chests.

Another method of finding dinosaur eggs is through Pepper Rex enemies. These enemies are found in Skull Cavern and have a 10% chance of dropping dinosaur eggs after being defeated by a player. Players can also find dinosaur eggs as a forage item on prehistoric floors in Skull Cavern. They will however need to deal with many Pepper Rex enemies, Mutant Flies, and Iridium Bats.

The final way to find a dinosaur egg is by winning it in the crane game located in the Stardew Valley movie theater. The movie theater can be made available after players either complete the Community Center or have the Community Center taken over by Joja. Inside the theater is a crane game that will give players three chances to play each time they pay for it. As the dinosaur egg is one of the rare prizes in the crane machine, there is a chance that it can be hidden from the player with foliage.

After players get their egg, it's best to put it in a coop's incubator so it can hatch. It may be tempting to immediately donate it, but more dinosaur eggs will be produced by the hatched dinosaur after it grows up. Even though these eggs are fresh and not ancient, they can still be donated.
