Stardew Valley is known for its customizable farm and farming simulator gameplay that has influenced many similar games in its wake. But one player has found an interesting quirk to the game when they named their farm and something very interesting happened, something they were previously unaware of in Stardew Valley's game code.

Naming a farm in Stardew Valley is one of the first things players do when starting the game and beginning their farming journey. Once the farm is named, it becomes a personal experience as players can farm on a beach, in a forest, on a hilltop, in the wilderness, on a riverland, and more.

Reddit user krryan18 posted an image on the Stardew Valley subreddit that showed off a screenshot of the text from a conversation with the villager Harvey where he mentions the name of their farm. Krryan18 had originally intended to name their farm "Milk+Honey" but the game instead converted the "+" symbol into an emoji of a face with sunglasses.

Stardew Valley is known to have a few secrets, and this is no different. According to the comments on this post, some characters in the text of a farm's name are known to become symbols, or an emoji is placed in the right combination. For example, using the "<" symbol can produce a heart, and so on.

Dedicated fans of Stardew Valley are no strangers to weird things, such as animals having strange behavior, so this could make the game even more interesting for players. There aren’t many games out there that have the option for players to have little symbols or faces present in the important text. Stardew Valley has always been unique with its quirks and story elements that keep players coming back for more.

One thing to remember with this trick is the fact that once a name is given to a farm, it cannot be undone or changed. This leaves players with unwanted symbols in their farm's name they never expected nor intended to be there for the rest of the game unless they restart. That being said, it can also be something that adds to the overall enjoyment of Stardew Valley despite the frustration since it is only one part of a long list of things needed to start the game.

Stardew Valley is out now on mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
