There have only been a handful of indie games that fans would recognize as truly making a significant mark within the gaming community. Many Stardew Valley fans will likely agree that the life simulation video game is one of them. Not only is the gameplay seemingly timeless, fans continue to reference the title in real life by creating Stardew Valley fan art and items, in-game content, and more. Now, a couple takes it to the next level, by announcing their engagement through the marriage items actually used within the independent game.

Like other video games such as the Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto series, the Stardew Valley community remains quite engaged and active. So much so that the game's creator Eric Barone, or ConcernedApe on Twitter, recognized the fans' love for the title and announced a unique kind of Stardew Valley tournament. What's more, many fans and players use online forums to post the content they have created for the video game, so it is no wonder that the Stardew Valley fan who just got engaged would use Reddit to share her great news to the community.

Redditor Wizcallifuh recently posted on the Stardew Valley subreddit that she had gotten engaged. Happily captioning the post that she was marrying a farmer, the Redditor posted an image collage with two photos of herself and her significant other. What's interesting to note about the image is that she is seen holding a blue shell pendant. And most fans would likely recognize the item as the Mermaid's Pendant, an item used to signify engagement and marriage in Stardew Valley.

Many of the thread's comments were full of congratulations and well wishes for the couple. One other commenter even mentioned that the Redditor seemed to be marrying a real-life Elliot, one of the marriage candidates in Stardew Valley. This is likely due to Elliot being the only bachelor in the game with long, flowing hair. However, Wizcallifuh said that their fiance was more of a Sam. This may mean that he is more of an outgoing music-oriented person, than an artsy romantic.

Nevertheless, the community only had positive sentiments for the post, which may indicate just how wholesome the Stardew Valley community is when it comes to posts like these. Hopefully the Redditor will also take inspiration from Stardew Valley when it comes to their wedding. Fellow fans and players will likely love to see a real-life version of the in-game marriage ceremony.

Stardew Valley is available on mobile, PC, PS4, PS Vita, Switch, and Xbox One.
