Stardew Valley is filled with a large variety of fish for players to catch in between raising farm animals, growing crops, and exploring dungeons. Each fish also has their own habitat where they can only be found during certain times and seasons.

One of the first big goals that players are presented with in Stardew Valley is the Community Center and the bundles that need to be completed inside it. One collection of these bundles requires players to collect specific fish available in different places at different times of year.

With the Night Fishing Bundle, players need to catch a Walleye, Bream, and an Eel. Completing this bundle will give players a Small Glow Ring with the Glittering Boulder also being removed from the mines entrance if players complete all of the fish bundles.

SV Fishing

Eels are fish that only spawn in the ocean during the spring and fall seasons. With them being a requirement for the Night Fishing Bundle, they can only be found from 4:00 pm to 2:00 am. Making the scenario even more specific however, players can only catch these fish if it is also raining outside.

It is possible for players to obtain an Eel without catching them, but the odds are low. If players search the garbage cans of Pelican Town during Spring or Fall, there is a rare chance for an Eel to be found in one of them. This Eel is perfectly usable for anything a normally caught Eel could be used for.

Other than being in the Night Fishing Bundle, Eels can be used in multiple cooking recipes. These recipes are Fried Eel, Maki Roll, Sashimi, and Spicy Eel. Eels can also be used to create Quality Fertilizer like any other fish.

At base price, Eels sell for 85g. By placing Eels in a fish pond on a player's farm, players can harvest Eel Roe. This sells for a base price of 72g, but it can be increased to a base price of 144g if players age the roe.

There are no villagers that would like Eels as a gift with only Demetrius, Elliot, Leo, Linus, Pam, Sebastian, and Willy having neutral reactions. Every other villager either hates or dislikes Eels, making them not helpful when it comes to relationships. The only case where it would be helpful is if an Eel is requested on the Help Wanted board outside of Pierre's General Store in Pelican Town.
