On the surface, the world of Stardew Valley might not look much like the world of Pokemon. However, the two share a surprising number of features. They both feature a wide range of environments, from beaches to forest to caves. Both are home to children that never age, and both have a touch of undefinable magic.

With this in mind, it's not hard to picture the people of Stardew Valley fitting into the world of Pokemon. But of the hundreds to choose from, which Pokemon would each of Pelican Town's residents bond with? Here are just a few Stardew Valley characters, and which Pokemon they'd be most likely to choose as a companion.

10 Caroline: Meganium

Caroline from Stardew Valley and Meganium

Caroline's refuge is her garden, and who better to help her tend it than this Pokemon? Meganium can revive dead plants with its breath, making it a perfect companion for those who love gardening.

Additionally, Meganium is a calming presence and a peacemaker. Similarly, Caroline does her best to bring others together; for example, by holding aerobics meetups for the women in town. It's easy to picture her treasured Meganium helping her welcome her friends as they exercise, and later standing at her side while she waters her flowers.

9 The Wizard: Elgyem

The Wizard, and an Elgyem in the pokemon anime

Pokemon lore has long held that Elgyem's appearance is linked to a UFO crash. As an arcane researcher, this being's incredible psychic powers and extraterrestrial origin couldn't help but pique the Wizard's curiosity.

While he'd originally focus on studying Elgyem, the two would quickly form a bond. With its welcoming and helpful disposition, Elgyem would be only too eager to help the Wizard with his mystical pursuits. Life can get lonely for the Wizard in his tower, but Elgyem could be both a research assistant and a friend.

8 Leo: Toucannon

Leo, and a Toucannon in the Pokemon anime

Living on Ginger Island, Leo has befriended a whole family of tropical birds, and Toucannon would fight right in among them. They are also a family-oriented Pokemon, known for forming loving couples and caring tenderly for their young.

In the anime, Toucannon have been shown to care for members of other species who have no family—just like the parrots that cared for Leo. Upon meeting, Toucannon and Leo would form an instant bond, and this Pokemon would gladly join Leo and his parrot family for island adventures.

7 Vincent: Sewaddle

Vincent from Stardew Valley, and a Sewaddle

Vincent loves to dig in the dirt looking for bugs (much to his mother's chagrin). In the Pokemon world, it's easy to imagine him finding a little Sewaddle in the ground and taking it along for adventures. Together, they'd venture into Cindersap Forest looking for spring onions, or battle Water-type Pokemon on the beach.

Though Sewaddle may not be the mightiest of Bug-types, it's perfect for a kid like Vincent. The two of them would form an unbreakable friendship, and grow big and strong together.

6 Jas: Clefairy

Jas from Stardew Valley, and Clefairy in the Pokemon anime

Both Jas and Clefairy tend to be shy, hesitant to open up to people. However, Jas is sweet and gentle, and living on Marnie's farm has taught her kindness towards all creatures. Her innocence and patient nature could make this peaceful Pokemon grow to love and trust her.

As someone who loves all things cute, Jas would be enamored with Fairy-types. She'd be overjoyed to discover and befriend the rare Clefairy, and once she did, they'd quickly become an inseparable pair.

5 Harvey: Drifblim

Harvey, and a Drifblim in the Pokemon anime

Harvey's a doctor by trade, but his favorite hobby is drifting in his hot air balloon. Drifblim would help him take this to the next level. Though this Pokemon can't control its flight alone, Harvey, as an expert aviator, can steer them both on their journeys.

Harvey tends to be a little timid, and Drifblim often feel lonely. A little adventure would be good for both of them: helping Harvey break out of his shell, and helping Drifblim bond with a new friend.

4 Abigail: Pumpkaboo

Considering her love of all things spooky, Abigail would naturally pick a Ghost-type as her Pokemon pal. Furthermore, as someone who adores Spirit's Eve, a Pokemon that embodies the holiday spirit makes a perfect match for her.

Pumpkaboo is known for guiding lost souls into the afterlife. Abigail is fascinated with spirits, spending time in the cemetery and trying to speak to ghosts with her spirit board. This Pokemon offers her a chance to learn more about the spirit world, and become fast friends along the way.

3 Sebastian: Absol

These two are both a little misunderstood. Sebastian is moody and reclusive, leading others to view him as strange or closed off. Absol, meanwhile, has long been wrongly blamed for disasters that it can predict.

It's easy to imagine these two gravitating towards each other, as oddballs and outcasts tend to do. They'd make a great pair in battles and on adventures, but more importantly, they'd form a strong companionship, escaping the world for awhile to admire the mountain lake or city lights at night.

2 Sandy: Roselia

Sandy, and Roselia in the Pokemon anime

Though she lives in Calico Desert, Sandy misses Stardew Valley and the flowers that grow there. The company of a Pokemon like Roselia, with its sweet-smelling roses, would be perfect for her. Perhaps with her Pokemon companion's help, Sandy could grow flowers of her own.

In between tending the shop, Sandy and Roselia could bond by battling Ground-type Pokemon together in the desert. Roselia would thrive on the fresh water of Calico Desert's oasis—and offer some assurance for Sandy if the shady casino gets too rowdy.

1 Emily: Kirlia

Emily, and a Kirlia in the Pokemon anime

Emily is in touch with her spiritual side and has strong intuitions about other people. This Pokemon's psychic abilities align with this aspect of Emily's personality. As an empath, Kirlia is highly in touch with others' emotions and gravitates towards people with positive energy.

Like Emily, Kirlia also loves to express itself through dance. The two of them would bond by practicing their moves together, and dazzle others with their coordination. An emotional and telepathic connection motivates a deep friendship between these two.
