In Stardew Valley, players will have to collect materials for recipes, buildings, tools, and more. One of the items that players will want to learn to collect are Stardew Valley fishes of all types, including the Pufferfish.
Stardew Valley's Pufferfish
Although not one of Stardew Valley's best fish, there still are several recipes that require this round, spikey fish. The Pufferfish is part of the Specialty Fish Bundle, and it can be used in several recipes. To make Maki Rolls, Sashimi, and Quality Fertilizer, players will need a fish of any type, and the Pufferfish makes a great ingredient since it's not needed for much of anything else. They also sell for anywhere from 200 to 600 gold. Pufferfish can be put in a Fish Pond, possibly earning players some yellow Pufferfish Roe.
Pufferfish can be also be used in the spool of the Stardew Valley's Sewing Machine. It creates a Sailor Shirt that is dyeable. There is one NPC that loves Pufferfish: Abigail. The rest of the NPCs that players can give gifts to are either neutral or negative toward Pufferfish.
Where and When to Find Pufferfish
As most Stardew Valley players know, fish have specific locations, seasons, and times of day that they can be caught. The Pufferfish can be caught in three ways. The first is during a sunny summer day between 12 PM and 4 PM in the ocean. Pufferfish can also be caught on Ginger Island; they can be found during any season in Island West, South, Southeast, and Pirate Cove locations.
Players can also purchase Pufferfish from the Traveling cart for 600 to 1,000 gold.
Quests That Require a Pufferfish
Three quests require players to either catch or buy Pufferfish. These quests will only appear in the game during Stardew Valley's summer season. These three quests are:
- Aquatic Research Quest - Year 2, Summer, 6th - Demetrius requests a Pufferfish by mail. Players will get a Friendship heart and 1,000 gold for their trouble.
- A Help Wanted Quest - Summer - Pufferfish can be requested on the help board outside Pierre's; one of these fish will fill the request. Thankfully, this request only appears during summertime, when these fish can actually be caught in the ocean. The reward is 600 gold and 150 Friendship points.
- Fishing Quest - Summer - Willy can ask for between one and four Pufferfish as a fishing quest on the Help Wanted board. Players will earn 200 gold and get to keep the fish.
