One of the more mysterious locations in all of Stardew Valley is the Wizard's Tower in the Cidersnap Forest. This structure is originally locked to players with nothing more than odd noises emanating from within. Fortunately, it will become one of the most magical and interesting locations players can visit in all of Stardew Valley.

In order to get from that first week of Stardew Valley to the fully unlocked version of the Wizard's Tower, players need to invest in building their relationship with the Wizard and completing particular quests. For those looking to learn more about this building and the shrines within, this guide is here to help.

How to Unlock the Wizard's Tower in Stardew Valley

In order to be invited into the Wizard's Tower, players need to trigger the Rat Problem quest from Mayor Lewis at the beginning of Stardew Valley. The earliest this can trigger is day 5 and, in order to advance this quest, players just need to attempt to read the golden scroll inside the Community Center. The next day will bring a letter inviting the player to the Wizard's Tower where a cutscene will trigger. The other option to open up the tower is to purchase a JojaMart membership.

In order to fully open up the Wizard's Tower, however, players need to get to four hearts with Stardew Valley's Wizard. This opens up the tower basement home of the Shrine of Illusions. This shrine allows players to change their appearance, name, favorite thing, gender, and the appearance of their pet and it costs 500 gold per use.

What to do at the Wizard's Tower in Stardew Valley

Once players complete either the Joja Warehouse path or all the Community Center quests in Stardew Valley a cutscene in the railroad region will begin a line of quests that will take players to the Witch's Hut. Completing the Goblin Problem quest and returning the Magic Ink to the Wizard will open up the shrines in the Witch's Hut as well as the ability to create buildings through the Wizard's Tower.

In the Wizard's Tower, players will now be able to interact with the magical book on the pedestal and purchase unique buildings from the Wizard. These structures are quite expensive, costing significant amounts of gold and materials. It is also important to note that the Island Obelisk only becomes available after players have visited Stardew Valley's Ginger Island for the first time.

Working from left to right, there is the Dark Shrine of Memory, the Dark Shrine of Selfishness, and the Dark Shrine of Night Terrors.

The first of these costs 30,000 gold and will remove all memories from an ex-spouse and reset their relationship with the player. The second, the Dark Shrine of Selfishness, costs a Prismatic Shrine and will turn a player's children into doves and permanently remove them from the game. The final shrine costs a Strange Bun and acts as a toggle for monsters spawing on a player's farm at night.
