Stardew Valley fans have plenty to enjoy in the game, but that doesn't stop its lone developer from continuing to produce even more content for the indie farm life simulator. With Stardew Valley's 1.5 update looming on the horizon for some time now, developer Eric Barone has now revealed that the update could launch in 2020.
Stardew Valley has received plenty of updates already, bringing the game to new systems, adding multiplayer, and releasing additional content for players to discover and enjoy. The upcoming update has been under development for some time now, with only small teases of what it may contain released thus far.
Previously, Eric Barone revealed that Stardew Valley's 1.5 update was in the home stretch back in late November. Now, the developer has revealed while answering a question over Twitter that the update may still launch before the end of the year, at least for PC players. In the event that it drops in 2020, console players will still need to wait until 2021 to try the new content out.
This is in keeping with Stardew Valley's prior updates, which have seen content come to consoles and mobile devices later than the PC version. While some users previously had to wait months for the updates to hit their system of choice, the wait has been lessened in recent updates, with the Stardew Valley 1.4 update only taking one month to reach consoles and mobile after it launched on PC.
As for what will be contained in the 1.5 update is still largely being kept under wraps. Barone has noted that the update will contain new endgame content for players who have already completed things like the game's community center. In addition, prior teasers have hinted at new opportunities, like letting the player sit down, free-roaming animals, the ability to further customize and rearrange one's home, and adding split-screen co-op to Stardew Valley.
It's been a busy year for video games, so most players likely have something to keep them occupied until the Stardew Valley update lands. It remains to be seen if this will be the final content update to Stardew Valley. The developer has previously hinted at the possibility of a sequel coming in the form of Stardew Valley 2, or if not that, at least a return to the same world it's set in for a future game, but for now, the future of the series is largely up in the air.
