A new era of Star Wars is about to begin, with the recent movie Rise of Skywalker concluding the overarching movie saga. Following this, Disney and Lucasfilm are scheduled to reveal the first stages of what is known as Project Luminous later this month, which is rumored to be the next phase of Star Wars, with new stories told through every medium at the disposal of Disney and Lucasfilm, including books, comics, TV shows, movies, and video games.

While the first stages of Project Luminous are expected to be first charted by the companies' publishing arm, there are rumors that there are a number of video games in development that could possibly tie into Project Luminous and the High Republic Era that this new multimedia effort is rumored to introduce and explore.

With that in mind, it could be quite a bit of time before the next Star Wars video game launches; however, according to rumors, there are multiple Star Wars games in development.

Knights of the Old Republic

If a recent rumor is true, a Knights of the Old Republic remake or reboot is in the works at EA, possibly from BioWare, the original developer of the Knights of the Old Republic series. There are conflicting reports on whether the game is a straight reboot of the beloved Star Wars RPG or if it a reboot of sorts making it a fresh start for the franchise, but it is looking like there is more Knights of the Republic to be expected in the future.

As with all rumors, though, perhaps this should be taken with a special grain of salt. After all, fans of the franchise are likely incredibly hyped for this one, but there is no official word.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was a hit for EA and Star Wars, exceeding sales expectations, and there are rumors that EA has tasked the game's developer Respawn Entertainment with creating a sequel to the 2019 single-player hit. Due to the recent release of Jedi: Fallen Order, this is likely the most far-off game that would come out but also the most believable rumor of the bunch considering the success.

It was so successful, in fact, that it is one of the reasons that Disney is now very interested in allowing game developers to adapt more of its owned IPs into video games. After some of the missteps early on in EA's licensing contract for Star Wars, including Battlefront and Battlefront 2, Jedi: Fallen Order is a big turnaround, so it would make sense that a sequel is inevitable.

EA Motive's Star Wars Game

It is confirmed that EA Motive, the studio that helped develop the campaign of Battlefront 2, is working on a Star Wars game. Some believe that Motive's game could be the game that was in recent rumors saying that the next saga of Star Wars films would actually be kicked off by a video game in 2021 that takes place in the High Republic Era. EA Motive has been quiet about its game for quite some time, so it is possible that this game is the furthest along of these three, and it would make sense for the game to tie into the High Republic Era considering the reveal later this month that is rumored to officially announce the era and the publishing efforts that will lead the way into this unexplored timeframe in Star Wars history.

Multiple Star Wars games are rumored to be in development.
