This week's update for Star Wars: The Old Republic has added a highly requested customization feature, numerous bug fixes and balances changes, and adjusted rewards for certain activities. The update is good news for players who painstakingly crafted the perfect appearance for their characters, overall making Star Wars: The Old Republic's galaxy a little more stylish.

BioWare's Star Wars MMORPG launched in December of 2011, and like most MMOs, has seen continuous improvements and additions, whether they be expansions of the story, new gameplay systems, or new ways for players to exercise their creativity. Taking place 4,000 years before the films and 300 years after the events of Knights of the Old Republic, players side with either the Sith Empire or the Republic in a galaxy-spanning conflict during a time when Jedi and Sith fought openly in huge numbers. The story has evolved over the years, introducing new characters and raising the stakes even higher.

One of the most impactful additions to the game was the outfitting system, which was introduced in 2015's Rise of the Emperor update. Players could assign the appearances of their favorite equipment to a collection of equipable outfits, allowing for characters to dress however they pleased rather than be limited by the appearances of whatever gear they happened to be wearing. Seven years later, this capability finally extends to weapons thanks to patch 7.0.2. Players no longer need to go through the expensive process of stripping the parts from their lightsaber and placing them in a more aesthetically pleasing one. Now, the process is as simple as assigning the desired appearance to an outfit.

Since the recent Legacy of the Sith expansion has done away with weapon mods for end-game weapons, players have been forced to use the appearance of their best weapons. This was very troublesome for many players who purchased weapon skins for real money in the game's cartel market. The inability to use appearances that were bought with cash was a major point of contention for The Old Republic's players, making this a much-needed update.

Other changes in the update include bug fixes for many abilities and a significant amount of fixes for the game's UI. Tech fragment rewards for many activities have seen up to 300% increases, which should help ease the grind for new equipment. Additionally, flashpoints from Knights of the Eternal Throne have been made easier with reduced enemy health and damage. BioWare appears to have been listening to player feedback with this update, as most of the changes address widely talked about issues. With player numbers falling sharply after Legacy of the Sith, time will tell if improvements such as these will be enough to retain the rest of the game's players.
