Star War: Squadrons is celebrating Star Wars Day by releasing the game’s final cosmetic drop. The cosmetics include new paint jobs and cockpit customizations for both the Rebel and Imperial factions.

For those who may not know, May 4, which sounds similar to “may the force” when pronounced, is officially Star Wars Day. Disney and Lucasfilm have made the celebratory day into an opportunity to promote all things Star Wars. This traditionally means promoting Star Wars films, TV shows, and video games. That of course includes Star Wars: Squadrons, one of Electronic Art’s latest releases set in the universe of the famed science fantasy franchise.

The new Star Wars: Squadrons cosmetics include paint jobs for the Rebel faction’s A-Wing Interceptor and the Imperial Tie Interceptor. There is also new content in the form of lightsaber hilts that players can display in their cockpit. According to a tweet from the official EA Star Wars account, there is additional content for both factions in the cosmetic drop.

While some fans may be disappointed to find out that the cosmetics will be the last to be released for Star Wars: Squadrons, which released last October, it is important to note that developer EA Motive initially did not plan to release any new content for Star Wars: Squadrons post-launch. That changed after the game received positive feedback from fans and critics, who praised the game’s easy-to-learn but difficult-to-master mechanics.

The developer has released two content updates for the game since launch, as well as multiple small cosmetic drops. The updates have added new maps and paint jobs for the game's selection of starfighters, as well as new skins for the pilots who sit in their cockpits. In January, EA Motive also released a lightsaber hilt cosmetic inspired by the Old Republic. The unexpected roll-out of content has given players a more customizable Star Wars experience, which has likely kept players invested in the game.

Star Wars: Squadrons is one of many Star Wars games that are on sale in celebration of Star Wars Day. Most notably, the sale includes the well-received Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which recently received a next-generation release on the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Fans who already own the game on PS4 and Xbox One will receive a free next-gen upgrade, while players who do not own the game can purchase it for 70% off.

The sale includes other Star Wars titles, including both Knights of the Old Republic games and Star Wars Battlefront 2: Celebration Edition, as well as discounted Star Wars-themed cosmetics in games such as Minecraft and The Sims 4: Journey to Batuu.

Star Wars: Squadrons is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
