Solo: A Star Wars Story hit theaters in 2018 and had a disappointing run during its first two weekends. The movie's screenwriter, Jon Kasdan, recently took to Twitter to confirm that no sequel is in development.

Kasdan believes a second Solo movie would not be picked up by Disney and would be a tough sell. Kasdan also cites the packed Disney+ schedule as a reason the young Solo story would not be made into a show. As of now, Disney+ does have a large slate of shows in development or scheduled for release, including the second season of The Mandalorian.

According to the director, Ron Howard, there was no plan for a sequel to the movie even before it was released. However, the actor who plays Han Solo, Alden Ehrenreich is signed to appear in three Star Wars movies, so it is possible that there may be more origin stories to come.

Disney is currently scheduled to release Star Wars movies in 2022, 2024, and 2026, and Disney+ is planning for multiple movie and show releases. The Disney+ animated show Star Wars: The Clone Wars is currently in the final season, with a new episode scheduled for April 3rd. The latest Star Wars movie, Rise of Skywalker, received an early digital release as well.
