The video game development studio EA Motive Montreal joined Twitter at the end of May, which led to rumors that a new Star Wars game would be announced this week thanks to the input of video game journalists like Jason Shreier and Jeff Grubb. Clearly that announcement never happened, but earlier today a leaker who goes by Bespin Bulletin on Instagram suggested the game, believed to be Star Wars Project Maverick, will instead by revealed on June 9th.

Much like leaked information about Call of Duty 2020 publicized today, this potential reveal date is unverified and should be taken with a grain of salt. That said, Bespin Bulletin was referred to as "one of the most accurate Star Wars leakers" when the social media post was shared on Reddit, and some seem to believe that Project Maverick could be a prominent title as part of Sony's PlayStation 5 reveal event.

The PS5 reveal was delayed by Sony this week in solidarity with ongoing Black Lives Matter protests and movements across the country, and the official announcement of that delay is now the most-liked gaming tweet of all time. With that in mind, it would make sense that Project Maverick's reveal was delayed as a result, but with no official word on when the game or the PS5 will be unveiled, it's currently hard to say for certain.

The unannounced Star Wars project was leaked via the European PlayStation Network (PSN) in March, and at the time Schreier said the game is a smaller project unaffiliated with the Star Wars: Battlefront and Jedi: Fallen Order franchises. Having more Star Wars titles is an exciting prospect for fans, especially after EA confirmed that the popular Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has sequels on the way.

When first leaked, the PSN listing suggested Project Maverick would have multiplayer gameplay that can support five players using the Play Together feature. This listing had "beta" listed in its ID, so interested players could see it emerge again in a testing capacity at some point in the near future.

Whether or not that near future for Star Wars Project Maverick will be June 9 as Bespin Bulletin suggests is yet to be seen. However, with everything the world knows about the secret Star Wars game based on previous leaks, there may be something fun to look forward to soon.
