Pedro Pascal, star of The Mandalorian and an always growing list of big projects, has apparently been trying to recruit Nicolas Cage into Star Wars. At this point, it's hard to tell what casting ideas for the franchise are jokes or legitimate. But frankly, this one could go either way.

After the 2 stars shared the spotlight in Cage's recent comedy The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, it seems as though they've formed a bit of a bond. For many people, a bond might take the form of being a supportive friend or texting memes back and forth. For Pascal, it looks as though that bond means doing his best to make Cage into a Mandalorian. He's not even the only one into the idea, as he's already got at least one director/producer playing along.

Speaking with Yahoo Entertainment at Disney's D23 Expo, Pascal surprised the interviewer when asked about the idea of bringing Cage into the fold on The Mandalorian. "I already suggested [it]," he replied. "I already said he would make a great Mandalorian." He was quickly joined by executive producer Rick Famuyiwa, who has also directed several episodes of the series. "But would he wear a helmet or not?" Famuyiwa egged on, to which Pascal answered, "he'll wear a helmet. Absolutely… Or he could be one of the helmet-less."

The conversation wasn't all hypothetical, however, as Katee Sackhoff (returning as Bo-Katan Kryze) also joined in to tease what fans can expect from The Mandalorian's upcoming 3rd season. "There are a lot more Mandalorians, and with that many Mandalorians in the room, things are bound to go wrong," she offered. "I think this season is different. … I do believe that this season is a little faster-paced. And that tonally, it's like a moving train. You just gotta get on." It looks like the long-held theory about Bo-Katan playing a big role in season 3 may hold some water.

"It both expands upon the idea of Mandalorians and the culture of Mandalorians," Famuyiwa added, "but as the storytelling starts to evolve, we have characters that have been introduced in Mandalorian like Ahsoka that are now part of the bigger storytelling going on in Star Wars. We've been bringing together a lot of characters from [the Star Wars universe] so we got a lot to say in Star Wars and we're gonna keep saying it." Lots of the people involved with the current generation of Star Wars probably didn't realize how interconnected their new stories would become, so that must be exciting.

Cage or not, The Mandalorian season 3 is shaping up to offer plenty more action for fans. With so many more Mandalorians set to show up, it looks like things are about to get pretty hectic for Pascal's Din Djarin and his basically-son-at-this-point Grogu.

The Mandalorian season 3 is set to premiere in February 2023 on Disney Plus.
