Star Wars is known for taking global audiences on galactic-spanning adventures. These unexpected journeys are perfectly at home in a serialized setting thanks to Disney Plus. With The Mandalorian being the first live-action Star Wars series on the small screen, there’s plenty to explore, with a great cast and crew giving it their all.

The Mandalorian Season 1 and Season 2 have been some fan-favorite Star Wars content since the franchise’s inception over 45 years ago. The series returns with The Mandalorian Season 3 and is set to debut even more than previous episodes. It begs the question of what to expect, and if the trailer is any indication, a lot of fun and thrills are to be had.

8 Death Watch History

The third season of The Mandalorian is set to further explore Mandalorian culture and history. With Din Djarin set for a journey to his destroyed planet, it would be a surprise if the show did not further explore Death Watch, the terrorist group that brought Din Djarin in after saving him from Separatist droids.

Star Wars fans have seen Death Watch before thanks to Star Wars: The Clone Wars, but for the more casual fans of the easy-to-access live-action series and films, The Mandalorian Season 3 should further expand Death Watch, and just what they mean.

7 Space Battles

In the trailer for The Mandalorian Season 3, Din Djarin is seen in quite a few quick scenes in space. His new spaceship may not be the Razor Crest, but it’s fast, agile, and pre-Empire. Din Djarin has proved himself a capable pilot, and the trailer features him dodging blaster fire in space.

There’s a lot of fun to be had in space battles, as the action is ever exhilarating. Even a young Anakin Skywalker enjoyed space battles and had an adoration of spinning since it’s a good trick. Hopefully, Din Djarin has plenty of tricks for his space battles.

6 Darksaber Drama

The Mandalorian Darksaber

At the end of The Mandalorian Season 2, Din Djarin won the Darksaber against Moff Gideon. This powerful weapon belonged to the first and only Mandalorian Jedi and has a black Kyber crystal to give it such an iconic and distinct look. Now in the hands of Din Djarin, there’s a lot of responsibility for a man who does not want it.

This Darksaber is the cause of much drama, as whoever wields it becomes the ruler of Mandalore. The weapon has caused much infighting amongst Mandalorians, and now, it seems as if Bo-Katan will resent Din Djarin, and await the chance to regain the weapon to be Queen.

5 Sequel Trilogy Connections

There’s a lot of divisiveness when it comes to the Star Wars sequel trilogy, but Disney and Lucasfilm maintain that the sequels are in fact canon. There’s not a lot of mention of these sequels outside of the films, but The Mandalorian Season 2 alluded to the sequels. Now, with Season 3, a sequel character is set to appear.

Babu Frik was introduced in Star Wars Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker, and has been seen in the trailer for The Mandalorian Season 3. As a droidsmith, the appearance of Babu Frik remains a secret, and his purpose is unknown. However, his arrival confirms the sequel trilogy remains canon.

4 Grogu Antics

Ever since the arrival of Grogu, fans have dubbed the character “Baby Yoda.” The character is extremely cute, with so much mystery around his origin. The relationship between Din Djarin and Grogu is like a father and son, and considering Grogu is still a baby, he gets himself into quite the antics.

It’s already expected that Grogu will be the source of a lot of trouble, especially with the remnants of the Empire hunting him for the importance of his blood. Such a rare find from scum and villainy may make Grogu a target too, as well as his love for eating frogs and eggs.

3 More Mandalorians

Mandalorians seem to be rather rare ever since the Empire took over the galaxy. They are proud warriors, with a longstanding history with the Jedi. Fans have wanted more content from Mandalorians, ever since the arrival of Boba Fett all those decades ago.

Fans are set to get their wish with The Mandalorian Season 3, as the trailer already promises a bunch of Mandalorians, complete with different colors and outfits. It proves that Mandalorians are far from extinct, with many adventures yet to be revealed.

2 The Living Waters

Part of the storyline for The Mandalorian Season 3 will follow Din Djarin as he tries to redeem himself from taking off his helmet in front of others. To do so, Din Djarin must return to Mandalore, and seek out the Living Waters, then, and only then, will atone, and be able to become a Mandalorian once more.

Audiences will inevitably see the Living Waters, and learn more history about the sieged and destroyed planet of Mandalore. Within its ruins, lies the Living Waters, and perhaps more discoveries about Din Djarin’s past and allegiance to Mandalorians.

1 Moff Gideon’s Revenge

Giancarlo-Esposito-Moff-Gideon

Acclaimed actor Giancarlo Esposito has already confirmed his return as Moff Gideon for The Mandalorian Season 3. It can be expected that the character is none too happy about being defeated, with his forces all but destroyed, the child lost, and a witness to Luke Skywalker’s talents as a Jedi Master.

Din Djarin’s journey to Mandalore may not be so easy, as there are bound to be countless issues along the way, and the remnants of the Empire, led by Moff Gideon, may be seeking revenge. Especially knowing how cold and calculating Moff Gideon is, and perhaps he is already many steps ahead.

The Mandalorian Season 3 is set to debut on Disney Plus in 2023.
