Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 The Sith Lords and its predecessor defined the early 2000s era with incredible gameplay and storytelling. The sequel is regarded as a Star Wars classic and one of Obsidian's greatest RPGs.

As the game has made its way onto the Nintendo Switch, one of the most crucial decisions new players will make is at the character creation phase. One critical area is putting in stat points and there are several: Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma. They do the following:

  • Strength: Melee damage, melee chance to hit
  • Dexterity: Defense, ranged chance to hit, reflex save
  • Constitution: HP/level, is a requirement for implants
  • Intelligence: Skill points per level
  • Wisdom: Affects Force power ‘spells’, helps with force points
  • Charisma: Force potency(damage/healing), cost of opposite alignment force powers

With three different classes and multiple skills/feats that depend on what stats have been selected, players will need to choose the right combination of stats to get the most out of their Jedi class.

Jedi Guardian

Essentially the warrior class in the game, the Jedi Guardian has the highest HP and can tank a lot of damage. As experts in close combat, the Guardian is a master of the lightsaber and can unlock the weapon specialization feat which does additional critical damage without needing to reach a prestige class.

The Jedi Guardian will need to put points into Strength as it impacts a Guardian’s damage output. Dexterity will affect one’s defense and can affect the ability to do critical damage, but this stat is not very necessary for the Guardian. Constitution will determine health and affects the amount and types of implants a character can have and is an important area for the Guardian. The best implants will require a minimum of 16 Constitution, although 14 is also sufficient to start with.

Intelligence will be wasted on the Guardian as the class does not benefit very much from this stat. Wisdom affects how many force/offensive powers a player can have, and players may be inclined to use them for any class. Finally, Charisma is usually the last thing any player looks at as it’s dependent on what points someone has left to spare. That said, Charisma can be a good stat to invest some points in as it unlocks interesting dialogue options during the game.

Stat Points Distribution For The Jedi Guardian Class

A balanced Jedi Guardian build may look like this:

STR

14

DEX

10

CON

14

INT

8

WIS

12

CHA

12

Players may wish to deduct points from Strength or Dexterity and add to Wisdom or Charisma for more options regarding offensive force powers or interesting dialogue and narrative/roleplay choices right from the get-go.

Jedi Sentinel

kotor2-party

Jedi Sentinel is a well-balanced option that possesses arguably the best skill set out of all the classes in KOTOR 2. Many dialogue choices and the ability to craft items are locked behind skill checks, a barrier the Sentinel can overcome easily. The class has medium levels of both HP and FP (force points). They also have immunities that grant them fewer chances to receive negative debuffs or effects.

Depending on what prestige class a player may want to opt for, the beginning stats will then vary for each Sentinel. For players who want more emphasis on the force, points should be put into Wisdom and Charisma. Players creating a melee build should dump points into Strength and Dexterity.

The two mandatory stats that players should not ignore are both Intelligence and Constitution, which should be capped at 14 points each. As explained above, good implants will require a minimum of 14 Constitution. On the other hand, intelligence will help players level up all skills as they play the game, especially Demolitions and Repair.

Stat Points Distribution For The Jedi Sentinel Class

A sample melee-focused build for a Jedi Sentinel will look like this:

STR

12

DEX

12

CON

14

INT

12

WIS

10

CHA

10

This sample build is for players that are gunning for the Jedi Weapons Master prestige class and wish to become a master of the blade. Alternatively, a player may reduce their points in Charisma and Strength and place them under Wisdom should they wish to try out a more force-based build.

Jedi Consular

kotor2-kreia

The Jedi Consular is the most in tune with the force and is essentially the ‘Wizard’ of KOTOR 2's classes. Using offensive and defensive force powers and gaining higher force points during level-ups is a big draw for this class. The Consular starts with low HP but high FP, so players will have to watch their health meters early game until they can buff this area with items and upgrades in order to take on those pesky Sith Lords (or become one).

Strength isn’t very important for the Jedi Consular, at least in the beginning. The same can be said about Dexterity and Constitution as this class isn’t a ranged unit and health isn’t too critical. Furthermore, the Consular can use items and abilities to heal itself.

Intelligence is, of course, important for skill points. Meanwhile, points should be centered around Wisdom and Charisma as force powers are very dependent on these stats, and both work in tandem with one another. It also helps players milk the plot as much as possible with those saucy dialogue options.

A sample Jedi Consular build can look like this:

STR

10

DEX

8

CON

8

INT

10

WIS

16

CHA

18

This stat example will transform players into space wizards and will allow them to get the most out of the plot and conversations with other main characters. Unless players don’t want to miss out on early game implants, they will have a blast with the story.
