One of the most beloved games in the Star Wars franchise is Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR). This was a seminal RPG first developed by BioWare, based on an older comic book series. It was announced recently that the first KOTOR game will be remade as timed console exclusive for the PS5 and PC. In the wake of the remake's news, a former BioWare member, Trent Oster, revealed plans of a pitch for a "Reforged Collection" of the two games.

Trent Oster was the co-founder of the Edmonton-based developer, forming it alongside Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk due to their background in programming. This eventually lead to the development of several classic RPGs like Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights. The company would then form a deal with LucasArts to develop Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire. Trent Oster was a part of BioWare until 2009, where he left to form his own company, BeamDog.

When the news of the Knights of the Old Republic Remake went live, Oster congratulated the Aspyr team for the efforts as well as saying he finally knows who "beat them to it." This tweet was accompanied by a screenshot of a PDF document that detailed the "Reforged Collection," though it didn't show much more than just the title page, along with some of the headings of the slides. Some of these include the mention of HD graphical overhauls, as well as some of the key ideas conveyed for this collection.

Oster lamented that there was a ton of work being put behind this Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic pitch, being sad that their team and ideas weren't able to be fully realized. When asked about some more details beyond the first page, he further explained that none of this information, other than what he was already revealing, could be shown further, due to some "confidential information."

Oster's tweet however never clarified if the pitch was going to be a remaster or a remake, presumably due to the aforementioned confidentiality. Some fans expressed their disappointment at the news of this potential collection being scrapped regardless. When asked about his feelings on the remake, Oster assured them that the efforts that Aspyr were taking in remaking KOTOR from the ground-up will be worth playing.
