Star Wars Jedi: Survivor took long enough for those hungering for a new game in this epic movie franchise. The game takes place five years after the previous game in 2019. Cal has moved on from his old crew on new Jedi-focused adventures. They are all in an effort to stop the Empire from gaining more power in the galaxy.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor opens with Cal going to prison but it was all a ruse to get some information from a senator. From there, The Inquisitors give chase and Cal has to reform his crew to once again stop their pursuit. That’s the basic plot, but now it’s time to get into some good tips.

6 Use Headphones

Cal and BD-1 in Star Wars Jedi Survivor

By removing the HUD, players metaphorically remove their sight. So, like any action hero that has lost their sight, they should attune their ears to the action meaning players should pop on headphones. There are a lot of audio cues that will be easier to hear with a good pair of headphones.

For example, whenever an enemy, like a Stormtrooper, throws out a bomb it will start counting down with a chime. BD-1 will also chime in whenever a scannable artifact is nearby and sometimes it can be easy to miss that opportunity.

5 Throw Back Explosives

The Stormtrooper bomb chimes bring up another good strategy that players may not be aware of. They can launch bombs back at enemies but they have to be quick about it because the fuses are short. Maybe that strategy is well-known, but this one may not be.

There are a lot of flying droids in the game that blow up after a few hits. If players grab them with the Force and then launch them at enemies, they will blow up automatically. If something is round, throw it at enemies because it may or may not blow up. That’s the overall strategy tip here for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

4 Use The Double-Bladed Stance

Cal’s Double-Bladed Stance in Star Wars Jedi Survivor

Players will begin the game with two Lightsaber stances. Single and Double-Bladed will be available followed by Dual Wield after the introductory mission. Later on, Blaster and Crossguard will also unlock in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor for a total of five Lightsaber stances for Cal to master. What is the best one to sink skill points into since they all have skill trees?

Double-Bladed should be the focus for most players because it has a great balance for combat. The Lightsaber will hit hard but still be flexible enough to deflect laser blasts back at enemies. A lot of the abilities under its skill tree will help take out and gather multiple enemies at once too. The game throws a lot at players, so the more enemies they can take out at once, the better.

3 Take Notes

Talking to Stormtroopers in Star Wars Jedi Survivor

The map gives players a lot more details than it did in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Players can examine the map, place markers, and follow guide points at their leisure. The maps, overall, are much bigger with semi-open-world environments to explore on each planet. Players will often come across barriers that will prevent them from exploring such as green screens.

In cases like this, players need to collect keys, or new Force powers to proceed just like unlocking abilities in a Metroidvania. Even though the map will mark areas as impassable, players should take initiative and take notes as well. Take screenshots of the area in the game and then where that place is on the map. This will help with backtracking immensely.

2 Wait To Explore Koboh Until Mounts Unlock

Riding a Nekko in Star Wars Jedi Survivor

Players will begin their adventure on Coruscant, a classic planet in the Star Wars mythos. This planet will be a linear affair but the next planet, Koboh, will open things up to the aforementioned open world. There is a lot to see and do on their way to meet Greez at his cantina. While there are reasons to explore before meeting him, such as grinding for skill points, players should mainline the story missions until after Greez fixes Cal’s ship.

This will end the story on Koboh for now, but players shouldn’t leave yet. Right before this finale, players will gain the ability to tame wildlife. With animals unlocked, players can explore a lot more of Koboh, and faster too. That’s why it’s a better idea to streamline the story first as it is another way for players to save time on backtracking.

1 Force Skills To Major

Wrenching Pull skill in Star Wars Jedi Survivor

There are two early Force power paths players can take to dominate the field. They could put their heart and soul into Telekinesis which will push and pull enemies away from Cal. Wrenching Pull is a great starter, for example, as it gathers multiple enemies together.

Gathering as many targets together to slay them all with the Double-Bladed Lightsaber stance in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a good combo. Alternatively, players could focus on mastering all of Confusion’s upgrades. Confusion will turn enemies against each other. At max settings, players can sit back and enjoy the chaos while keeping that health bar nice and full.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was released on April 28, 2023, and is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
