Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's marketing will pick up in December, with the game still set to release in March 2023 according to industry insider Jeff Grubb. Indeed, many have been hoping for more Star Wars Jedi: Survivor news because publisher EA and developer Respawn Entertainment have said much about the game. This is unusual, especially when factoring in its supposed release window is just five months away.

However, Grubb's explanation as to why makes perfect sense. It should be noted that anything said about Star Wars Jedi: Survivor that is not directly from EA or Respawn should be taken with a grain of salt, but Grubb has a proven track record of inside information. It's much more reliably than any random "leak" posted around the internet.

Grubb says that EA is intentionally planning a shorter marketing cycle for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor because it simply works. It doesn't hurt the game in any way, but this is especially true in the context that this is a sequel to an established IP. That means the game would feature about three months of marketing heading straight into Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's release date.

No doubt, many fans want more information now, but there are plenty of shorter marketing campaigns currently going on. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's The Pokemon Company has stretched it out, for example, but it's rather short with little information. The same has happened with God of War Ragnarok, and perhaps this signals a trend that shorter, quality marketing for established IPs is better than long, extended ones. Grubb's comments take place at the 27-minute mark below.

Of course, for new hardware like Sony's upcoming PS VR 2 or a brand new IP, more marketing makes sense. But God of War, Pokemon, and Star Wars are all IPs that the companies involved know will sell, and so EA is leveraging that. It may actually prove refreshing in the end. There are plenty of games that are known to be in some stage of development like The Elder Scrolls 6 that fans won't know about for years. Waiting a few months from the reveal of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor to its heavy marketing cycle to its release is something new and, should it work, it could be good for the companies and consumers.

After all, Grubb states that there is "no issue" with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor right now (but, with the nature of game development, that could change), so fans have no real cause for concern form this silence. Knowing that it's coming is quite reassuring and knowing fans won't get a lot of heavy info stretched across months is a nice change.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is expected to launch in 2023 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
