Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order had a lot going for it, from its interconnected Metroidvania design to its Soulslike combat, but one of its biggest highlights was the number of planets to explore. Over the course of the game, players get to explore six different Star Wars planets, each being faithful recreations of their on-screen counterparts or an authentic interpretation of original locales. In just a few months' time, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is set to bring another handful of planets to the table, though hopefully it'll keep players away from Coruscant.

Officially announced in January 2022, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has released just two trailers so far. The first of these shows a few seconds of in-game cinematics, re-introducing fans to Cal Kestis and teasing a brand new character trapped inside a Bacta Tank. The most recent trailer from The Game Awards finally showed off some gameplay, and included a few teases for new planets - one of which some fans believe could be Coruscant. But if Respawn wants to stay true to the source material, it might want to steer clear of the Empire's home world.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Shouldn't Take Cal to Coruscant

The Coruscant skyline

In the latest Star Wars Jedi: Survivor trailer, there's a brief shot of player-character Cal Kestis getting helped onto a platform by presumed ally Bode Akuna. In the background of this split-second clip, a plethora of lights can be seen, and as Bode pulls Cal up onto the platform the camera pans down to show neon lights. To fans of Star Wars' additional media, particularly The Clone Wars, this scenery is going to look pretty familiar. Some conclude it to be Coruscant, the hub of the galaxy, former home of the Jedi Temple, and current home of the Emperor himself.

This theory would line up with another that arose following Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's very first trailer. During that teaser, a Pau'an is seen inspecting Cal's lightsaber. When the door to the room opens it reveals a similar set of bright neon lights, similar to those seen in the most recent Jedi: Survivor trailer. Based on the footage so far, it seems as though Cal may be heading to Coruscant.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is set five years after the events of the first game, putting it at roughly 9 BBY on the in-universe timeline (about nine years before the events of A New Hope and the Battle of Yavin). At this point in time, the Jedi are all-but extinct, with Darth Vader and his Inquisitors personally searching for Force-users across the galaxy and wiping them out. The Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ show, which is set in the same year, shows this in full force as Inquisitors chase the titular Jedi across the galaxy.

It would be extremely difficult for Cal Kestis to be able to sneak into Coruscant undetected and leave in one piece. Coruscant is the center of the Empire's reign, and although fans haven't seen it much in canon materials, it's presumably swarming with Stormtroopers and elite Imperial military types. While an action set piece on Coruscant would be undoubtedly tense and thrilling, and seeing the planet during this period would be interesting for fans, it wouldn't make too much canonical sense. Having Cal easily come and go from the planet as he pleases could also tarnish the Empire's intimidating stature.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor releases on March 17, 2023, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
