After some players complained about giant alien spiders in Jedi Fallen Order, Respawn Entertainment added a phobia-sensitive feature to its latest game, Jedi Survivor. In the new installment, players can get rid of all Wyyyschokks and have them look less like arachnid creatures with one simple setting.

Respawn is one of many developers to try phobia-safe gameplay features. And other games like Grounded have fueled the trend in the past few years. But regardless, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the first game in the franchise to offer such accessibility features.

The Arachnophobia Mode Explained

In Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the Arachnophobia Safe Mode is an accessibility feature that removes spider-like creatures from gameplay. When toggled on, it modifies Wyyyschokks in a way that they don’t resemble arthropods.

A similar feature can be found in Grounded and Hogwarts Legacy. In both games, players can turn horrifying bugs into objects or shapes that look nothing like spiders. Following these phobia-free games’ footsteps, Jedi Survivor’s Arachnophobia Mode cuts all scary content and replaces it with tolerable enemies.

How to Enable the Arachnophobia Safe Mode

To remove spiders from Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, go to the Options menu, open the Accessibility tab, and toggle the “Arachnophobia Safe Mode.” With this setting, Wyyyschokks will be modified into non-arachnid creatures, making the game safe for players with spider phobia.

The option is always reversible, and players can toggle it off from the Pause Menu. But players with fear or bugs are advised to have this feature on from the beginning to avoid any jump scares in the later chapters. The good thing about the Arachnophobia Mode is that it does not affect the overall story progress and achievements.

The Arachnophobia Mode’s Effect on Combat Difficulty

Although the Arachnophobia Mode softens the look of Wyyyschokks, it does not affect their HP and damage. With or without this accessibility feature, players will experience the same challenges depending on the combat difficulty they choose.

It’s also noteworthy that the spider-free mode won’t change the number of enemies that players must face. All it does is modify some creatures’ looks—namely, the Wyyyschokk’s.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is available now for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X & S.
