It's May 4, a sort of holiday for Star Wars fans across the galaxy. Those looking to celebrate the special day can now do so with a major Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order update, which adds a bevy of new content to the popular Star Wars game released by Respawn Entertainment last year.

Highlighting the new content update is a New Game+ mode, allowing fans to replay Fallen Order with previously unlocked cosmetics, including lightsaber crystals. New Game+ players will get an Inquisitor skin for Cal and a red lightsaber crystal, giving players a bit of dark side flair to rock if they desire it. Abilities won't carry over, but that would throw off the flow of Fallen Order's story, so it does make sense.

In addition, Fallen Order players will be gaining access to Meditation Training and new combat challenges. The combat challenges can either be pre-determined or custom-created by the player, adding a fair bit of replayability. Better yet, the update trailer posted by EA shows Cal fighting alongside his mentor, Jaro Tapal, in one of the combat arenas, adding a nice twist to the combat players are used to.

While it was released too late in the year to be eligible for the 2019 Game Awards, Fallen Order was a standout title, offering one of the best Star Wars games of the past decade. It was a refreshing return for the franchise, which suffered a frustrating string of cancellations and lackluster launches.

Rumor has it that Respawn is working on Jedi: Fallen Order 2though given how recently fans got the current entry, it seems likely that the next is still years away. EA still holds the license for Star Wars games, and despite an ultimately disappointing list of games so far, there are a few promising projects in the works.

For those uninterested or without enough time to watch all nine movies in the Skywalker saga today, Fallen Order's new update should offer a solid alternative. The new content shows quite a bit of promise, especially with a relative dip in video game releases caused by numerous delays. Hopefully, more is on the horizon.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
