Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has officially launched to a rather warm reception by the Star Wars community and the gaming community at large. Whether it's the intense lightsaber combat, the overarching and straightforward narrative, or the overall gameplay mechanics, it seems safe to say that this is the biggest Star Wars title in quite a long time. Of course, it's not only the big things that define a game, but the smaller details as well.

Easter eggs, inside jokes, and occasional references are always appreciated by the game community, and Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order is in the unique position of making a ton of Star Wars references occur naturally. Without a doubt, this would get a grin or chuckle out of those well-versed in Star Wars lore, and Respawn's latest game in the franchise doesn't disappoint. Be forewarned, this article will contain SPOILERS for Jedi: Fallen Order, though there will be nothing that spoilers the game's story. Here are all the major Star Wars references found throughout the game.

Star Wars Easter Eggs and References

Early in the game, players will get the first major reference to Star Wars canon: a Jedi Holocron. This holocron is showed to the player and displays Obi-Wan Kenobi saying the Republic and Jedi Order have fallen, alluding to the message that he sent out during Revenge of the Sith. On top of that, the same exact message was also within a holocron held by Kanan Jarrus in Star Wars Rebels. Another early Easter egg is hidden a bit more, as in the early sections of the game, there's a door on a train that Cal cannot open. Players who press it 66 times, though, as seen below courtesy of YouTuber xGarbett, will hear Darth Sidious issue Order 66, the purge of the Jedi.

Kashyyk is also full of references to Star Wars canon. At one point while traveling beneath a pair of Stormtroopers, they will echo the phrase, "at least we have the high ground." As all Star Wars fans known, the high ground belongs only to Obi-Wan Kenobi. Plus, players will be looking for a Wookiee known as Tarfful, who actually appears in Revenge of the Sith. He was the one working alongside Yoda and aiding his escape from Order 66; notably, he was also a friend of Chewbacca prior to his capture by the Empire.

Players also meet Saw Gerrera on this planet, a freedom fighter first seen in the Star WarsClone Wars animated series. This may not be an elusive reference, but seeing the face of one of the best known non-Jedi in the galaxy is sure to giddy up fans of the franchise. Saw isn't the only ghost of the Clone Wars, however, as players are tasked with exploring a crashed ship at one point. There's a secret alcove players can travel to and find a hidden message from a Clone Trooper, never to be confused with a Stormtrooper, talking battle tactics. Also, when players travel to the planet of Dathomir, Greez and Cere will discuss the betrayal of the Nightsisters during the Clone Wars, once again referring to an arc found in the animated series.

Speaking of Dathomir, players will be able to obtain a dual-bladed lightsaber there in what is a clear throwback to Darth Maul. He popularized this style of lightsaber, and it would go on to likely be one of the most popular forms of the weapon. Of course, it's also likely to help build anticipation for The Rise of Skywalker, as trailers have shown "Dark Rey" wielding the same iconic weapon.

Perhaps one of the best references comes from a fight between the playable character, Cal Kestis, and the Bounty Hunter in an arena. Occasionally, when the player dies, the Bounty Hunter will ask if he's "The Last Jedi?" The allusion to the movie is clear and quite hilarious given the context that Kestis is fighting for the same themes found in that movie, in a way. That said, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order's creator isn't a big fan of The Last Jedi and preferred Clone Wars and Rebels, which is rather obvious by the number of references.

At one point, Cal travels to Ilum, a planet filled with Kyber Crystals for lightsabers, and recalls traveling here before with Yoda. Of course, it's not a complete Jedi story with a reference to one of the most well-known Jedi Masters, even if 'baby yoda' has more recently taken the internet by storm.

As players come to the end of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, there's another major appearance that is one part fan service, one part reference, and all parts fantastic. However, to avoid major spoiler territory, that won't be discussed here. As fans continue to play, there's a good chance more hidden goodies will get their time to shine, but for now, these are all the major Star Wars Easter eggs and references we know about.
