Standing as one of the first AAA single-player Star Wars games in years, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was a massive success for Respawn Entertainment and EA. Following Cal Kestus - a Jedi in hiding following the events of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith - the game saw players venture across the galaxy in a new, canonical adventure, utilizing a mix of Dark-Souls-inspired combat and a Metroidvania structure.

For those who never got to play the game or are merely itching to jump back in, today saw EA roll out a host of new next-generation optimization features via a new update. Now, players on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S can experience a vastly upgraded take on 2019's acclaimed Star Wars adventure, complete with a number of advanced options.

Xbox Series S players will get a boost of 15 frames, with the original 45 FPS gameplay now switching to 60 FPS. Meanwhile, Xbox Series X owners will get several big additions, with the game getting a dynamic resolution boost of up to 1440p in performance mode and 2160p in non-performance mode. The latter's postprocessing will also be bumped up to 4K. PlayStation 5 players will also get the 60 FPS gameplay, while its post-processing will be bumped to 1440p and will disable dynamic resolution to sport a fixed resolution of 1200p.

Overall, it seems those on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 will be able to play Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order with increased visual fidelity, making for a more cinematic Star Wars experience. For those who never played the game upon release, the story picks up years after Emperor Palpatine executed Order 66, annihilating the Jedi and taking over the galaxy with Darth Vader by his side. Years after renouncing his powers and going into hiding, former-Jedi-padawan Cal Kestus is brought out of exile after encountering two Inquisitors: force-wielding Jedi hunters sent by the Empire. Kestus flees with the help of some new allies, beginning a new quest to search out the secrets of the Jedi and rebuild the order.

Fallen Order was a huge success upon release, pulling in hefty sales as well as a lot of critical praise. EA later deemed the game to be the beginning of a new franchise, ensuring that Cal's story would continue in future entries in the series. Although it hasn't yet been confirmed if a sequel to the game is officially in production, the announcement yesterday that all Star Wars games will now fall under the Lucasfilm Games banner likely means some big projects set in the franchise's world are slated to release sooner rather than later.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
