While it might be hard to believe, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has been out for over two years. Since its release in November 2019, many players have been mastering the ways of the force as Jedi Cal Kestis. In addition to replicating the iconic Star Wars feel, the game developed by Respawn Entertainment has an impressively deep and fluid combat system that lets players feel like a Jedi Knight.

While there are many keys to becoming a master swordsman in Jedi: Fallen Order, perhaps one of the most important aspects is learning to parry enemy attacks. Using this mechanic, players can block incoming attacks from enemies and stun them in the process, allowing the player to move in for a quick strike. Recently, one skilled gamer revealed just how good the parry mechanic can be in-game if a player takes the time to master it.

In a post on Reddit, a user called Resident_Ad9731 shared a clip from their time playing Jedi: Fallen Order. The video took place on the grassy planet of Bogano as the player battled an Oggdo Bogdo, a dangerous frog-like creature. In the clip, the player utilized the parry mechanic to expertly counter the damaging attacks of the large enemy.

Time after time, Resident_Ad9731 successfully parried attacks from the Oggdo Bogdo, stunning it and allowing them to move in for a damaging lightsaber strike. Continuing to use the parry mechanic, they slowly chipped away at the creature's health and eventually defeated it. The player then put away their saber and triumphantly walked away before the clip ended. According to the gamer, the point of the clip was to show players that the game “becomes a lot easier when you master parry.”

Since posting this clip on Reddit, numerous members of the Jedi: Fallen Order community have commented on the skills required to master the game. With over 700 upvotes in less than a day, many were impressed with the number of successful parries the player pulled off successively, as the timing for the move can be challenging. In addition, some gamers discussed the best ways to use the mechanic in-game along with some of the best methods for taking down the various enemies found in the game’s worlds.

This impressive parrying clip from the original Jedi: Fallen Order comes as exciting news about the sequel was just revealed. Recently, a teaser trailer was shown unveiling some story elements for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. While the roughly one-minute trailer only featured cinematic cutscenes and no actual gameplay, it seems likely that parrying will remain a key component to success. With that in mind, players will have a while to continue practicing the mechanic in Jedi: Fallen Order, as the sequel is not expected to release until 2023.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
