For players who felt a bit disillusioned with EA's recent multiplayer-centric Star Wars releases, Respawn Entertainment has seemingly come to the rescue. Releasing the immensely popular Apex Legends earlier this year, the studio's other development team led by Stig Asmussen just released the single player focused Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. This is apparently what the community has been craving as the game recently shattered a number of sales records.

In a combined announcement, EA, Respawn, and Lucasfilm announced that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order became the fastest selling digital title in the first two weeks for a Star Wars game. In addition, the game also became EA's top selling Star Wars PC game in its initial launch window. Considering all of the praise and critical success the game saw at launch as well as the desire for more single player games, this news isn't too surprising.

Even with all of these accolades and being regarded as one of the best games of 2019, one of the more surprising aspects is that it ultimately left off of this year's Game Awards nominee list. The surprising snub is thought to have been simply a timing issue as the awards list arrived only a week after Fallen Jedi launched. However, some fans have pointed the finger at Death Stranding, a game that has a much bigger range of varying and divisive opinions.

On behalf of Respawn and EA, we thank everyone for their support of the studio and the team throughout the development and launch of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Telling a story in the Star Wars galaxy is a dream come true and the reception from the fans has been incredible.

Not only that, it's well known that Hideo Kojima and Geoff Keighley are fast friends, something which has left a few people wondering if that may have played a role in all of Death Stranding's nominations. To be fair, Keighley has already come out to say that he had no input on the game nominations.

Many video game fans have been lamenting the death of single player games, though the past couple of years have started to buck that trend. In addition to the successes of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, other fantastic options have launched including God of War, Marvel's Spider-Man, and even Remedy's surprise hit, Control. Thankfully, there appears to be even more promising single player experiences next year like Cyberpunk 2077, Final Fantasy VII Remake, and The Last of Us Part 2.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
