In recent years, the Star Wars fanbase has been divided by the sequel trilogy of films in a way that almost seems unrepairable. Luckily, things like The MandolorianThe Bad Batch, and the potential Knights of the Old Republic remake have allowed the fanbase to reach across the aisle and bond over Star Wars in different ways. Perhaps one of the best renditions of Star Wars in recent years, however, is Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order which is leading the way for other great Star Wars video games.

As far as matches made in heaven go, Star Wars and video games seem like the perfect pair. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order showed that Star Wars games don't have to be the first-person shooters that they've been in recent years because it was a commercially and critically successful story-driven third-person adventure game. While the genre is extremely hot currently with first-party Sony games leading the charge, Fallen Order was praised for being more than the sum of its parts by not only incorporating excellent tried and true game mechanics but by telling an excellent Star Wars story.

While still unannounced, it's highly likely that a sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is in the works at Respawn Entertainment. The ending to the original game was left pretty open-ended, so there are plenty of different directions that the studio could take in a sequel. Fan speculation has been going on since Fallen Order released in 2019 but has been at an all-time high recently because of the almost continuous stream of Star Wars content that's been releasing. One character appearing in many theories for the plot of Fallen Order 2 is Ahsoka Tano.

Who is Ahsoka Tano?

If someone were to only watch the mainline Star Wars films, they might not even know who Ahsoka is. However, with her appearance in the highly popular Disney Plus series The Mandolorian, she's gotten plenty of love in recent months. Ahsoka was the apprentice to Anakin Skywalker introduced in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series. She begins the series as an impressionable young Padawan and ends it by rejecting the ways of the Jedi Council and going into hiding following the events of Order 66.

After The Clone Wars and Rebels, her whereabouts were unknown until she appeared in The Mandalorian Chapter 13: "The Jedi." In the episode, she revealed Baby Yoda's real name to Mando and told him where to take the child. While she only appeared in one episode of the show, her appearance was significant as it tied more of the animated Star Wars universe into the live-action one. Ahsoka's time in the mainstream won't end there, however, as it was then announced that she would be getting her own Disney Plus series titled Ahsoka.

It's clear that Disney is pushing the character into more of the limelight for the future of Star Wars. For good reason too, Ahsoka is a fan favorite who is a complicated and interesting character that people can't seem to get enough of.

The Jedi: Fallen Order-Tano Connection

Because she's receiving so much Star Wars screen time, it makes sense that Ahsoka might play a part in the sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order. She's been in shows, both live-action and animated, as well as the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie that kicked the TV series off. All that's left to truly cement her as a staple of the franchise is to put her in a game and there's not a better game currently than Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2.

Not only would her appearance in Fallen Order 2 make sense from a branding/franchise perspective, but Ahsoka's path mirrors and reflects a lot of Fallen Order protagonist Cal Kestis'. Thematically, she would fit right alongside Cal and the rest of the Stinger Mantis crew in the sequel. Cal too rejected his Jedi powers and went into hiding after the events of Order 66 and his perceived failure to save his master.

He then later realized that he needed them to restore the Jedi order. To keep the new age of Force-sensitive children out of the reaches of Darth Vader and the Empire, Cal rejects the old ways once more and ends the game looking for a new purpose.

Cal and crew meeting up with Ahsoka to figure out how best to preserve the Jedi legacy might make sense as an initial direction for Fallen Order 2. Her dynamic with Cal might also prove to be interesting as he has much of the lighthearted charm she once had before the fall of the Jedi. The two seem to have similar goals surrounding the protection of innocent lives and the future of the Jedi but might go about it in contrasting ways.

Where to From Here?

All of this is obviously speculation, but there seems to be a strong case for Ahsoka's inclusion. Even if she isn't a part of the main cast, an appearance still seems likely. Because there's been no official announcement about a Jedi: Fallen Order sequel, it's still unclear when the game will release, but depending on when the Ahsoka Disney Plus series releases, it could tie into that as well.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 is rumored to be in development.
