The future of Star Wars games is looking good, especially with titles like the Knights of the Old Republic Remake and open-world Ubisoft Star Wars games in the works. As EA’s exclusivity contract comes to an end relatively soon, the floodgates are bound to open with EA still working on its own Star Wars games. Right now, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 might be EA’s biggest and worst-kept secret.

Last year, EA revealed that it wouldn’t discuss any new Star Wars games until this year, but when and where this year remains a big question mark. It also referred to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order as its own franchise, and since a single entry hardly denotes a franchise, many have been speculating and expressing their hopes for the new game.

Now, thanks to Jeff Grubb, fans may very well know when to expect Jedi: Fallen Order 2. Plans change though, so fans should still take this with a grain of salt. But, according to Grubb, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 is likely to be announced sometime before E3 2022. In other words, in the first half or so of this year, fans will learn about it in a “significant way.” E3 would be a big stage presence for it, but at the same time, that doesn’t stop a proper announcement/reveal from coming before an E3 stage presence.

Notably, Grubb also suggests this could come around May—which as fans know could point to a specific date in particular. May 4 is Star Wars day, and so EA announcing Jedi: Fallen Order 2 on Star Wars Day would be a major way to celebrate the overarching franchise. What fans should note is that an early 2022 announcement doesn’t guarantee a late 2022 release for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2.

On the one hand, it absolutely could though. Getting Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 in the second half of the year would just pump 2022 up even more, especially considering all the anticipated video games releasing in 2022. On the other hand, of course, there is still the pandemic to consider. Grubb himself mentioned that a late 2022 release date is possible but that it could still slip into 2023. A lot is unknown, but knowing that a reveal could be happening sometime before E3 is still pretty big for fans.

Again, though, things could change. Fans should keep an eye out for more Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 news but also keep in mind that the gaming industry has been impacted and continues to be impacted in many untold ways by the pandemic.
