After many painstaking years of failing to be in the good graces of Star Wars fans, Hayden Christensen has picked up the pieces and finally returned to the franchise with his head held high as a star in Obi-Wan Kenobi. Still, the question remains: Are Christensen and Natalie Portman still friends to this day?

Given his Star Wars homecoming, fans were also hoping to see his former co-star Portman joining him on the small screen. Unfortunately, she has been quite busy with her new role in Marvel Studios' Thor: Love and Thunder, so it doesn't seem like she will be attached to the revival series anytime soon.

Rumors of a love affair between the two began to swirl when they went on press tours for the films. According to fans, Christensen would light up anytime he was asked to comment about Portman, which led to the speculation that there may be real feelings there. On one particular occasion, Christensen mentioned that he fell in love with Portman "just a little bit" in order to make their chemistry all the more believable. He also admitted that she was a "good kisser," but he later clarified that they were really just "good friends" who worked well together in front of the camera.

Still, the relationship rumors persisted despite his claim that they were strictly professional with each other. In fact, at one point, some people even believed that Christensen had something to do with Portman's first heartbreak. In 2015, Portman revealed in a Harvard address that she had suffered from a broken heart during her sophomore year at the Ivy League university. Because the time frame lined up with the Star Wars prequels, some people assumed it was Christensen who caused it, though this has not been confirmed.

Today, the two actors are linked to different partners, and they are both parents as well. Even though they never ended up together, fans hope that they still keep in touch with each other and that they will reunite at some point in the future. While there is no indication of whether the two have spoken to each other recently, the prevailing assumption is that they share a mutual respect for one another to this day.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is now streaming on Disney Plus.
