What happens when the Star Wars franchise is combined with the Age of Empires series? The result is Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds. Originally released in 2001, Galactic Battlegrounds proved immediately popular with fans of both franchises. Age of Empires II had just been released two years before and was still going strong by the time Star Wars decided to experiment with the same game engine.

Cheats are almost as old as video games themselves. The Age of Empires series is noted for often containing a myriad of helpful (and zany) cheat codes. Armed with these little helpers, Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds can become a ridiculously easy game. For the sake of thoroughness, codes for the expansion, Clone Campaigns, have been included as well. To activate a cheat, simply press Enter during gameplay to bring up the chat function. Type in the code exactly as shown, and press Enter again to complete the process.

5 Resources & Construction

Rebel Faction Base From Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds

The economy of Galactic Battlegrounds is built around the accumulation of various resources. These raw materials are comprised of Carbon, Food, Nova, and Ore. Possessing a strong economy is essential as practically everything the player needs to build or research requires resources. But why work for it? With these nifty codes, everything a player could possibly need is only a few keyboard clicks away. Here's the breakdown:

  • forcecarbon - 1,000 Carbon
  • forcefood - 1,000 Food
  • forcenova - 1,000 Nova
  • forceore - 1,000 Ore
  • forcebuild - Instant Construction

Take notice of that final cheat on the list. Building things take time in Galactic Battlegrounds. Constructing a worthwhile base is time-consuming, but is almost always necessary in order to wage an effective campaign. With all those extra resources, what's the point of waiting for things to be built? Enter that last cheat and your base will spring to life in no time!

4 Helpful Unit Spawns

Death Star From Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds

Like resource gathering, recruiting a formidable army also takes time. When locking horns with the AI, it's imperative for the player to build a competent army to neutralize enemy incursions relatively quickly. Sometimes, it's good to have a little extra help on hand when things go sour. Spawning these intimidating juggernauts can turn the tide of a battle in the blink of an eye. The list of unit spawns include:

  • simonsays - Simon the Killer Ewok
  • That's No Moon - Death Star
  • forceboat - Invisible Ship
  • scaryboat - Speed Boat
  • imperial entanglements - Star Destroyer
  • tantive iv - Leia's Blockade Runner
  • galactic upheaval - Decimator

Summoning Simon the Killer Ewok is an inspired choice. This furry terror can easily obliterate an enemy's base as well as their army, without breaking a sweat. Of course, if the player needs maximum destruction, then spawning the Death Star itself is the obvious choice. No matter which option they choose, it's pretty much a foregone conclusion the enemy won't last for very long when facing some of these overpowered behemoths.

3 The Game Map

The Map Of Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds

Knowing how and when an enemy is going to strike is a handy bit of information. Normally, the player would need to take precautions so that some advanced notice can be achieved. This is because, under normal circumstances, a player's vision is obscured by the fog of war as well as the terra incognita of unexplored territory. These two cheats can eliminate those problems in their entirety:

  • forceexplore - Reveals the Complete Map
  • forcesight - Removes Fog of War

The first cheat eliminates the black terra incognita that represents unexplored territory. The second cheat finishes the job by eliminating the fog of war. Thus, when combined, every inch of the map becomes fully visible to the player. No more nasty surprise attacks with these two codes.

2 Instant Winning

Sometimes, players can lose control of a situation. Even the best-laid plans often come to naught. When failure looms large on the horizon, the thought of having to replay a scenario from the beginning can be quite deflating. Cheat codes are notorious for allowing players to surreptitiously snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. When the going gets too tough, lean on these cheats to turn a disaster into a triumph:

  • darksidex - Defeat Indicated Enemy (Note: Substitute the "x" with the enemy's number in the diplomacy panel)
  • skywalker - Win Scenario
  • tarkin - Defeat Every Enemy

Each of Galactic Battleground's campaigns can be won in a matter of seconds if these cheats are utilized. It's worth noting that "won" is being used rather loosely here.

1 Helpful Unit Buffs

Huge Army From Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds

If winning instantly without effort proves unconscionable, then unit buffs may be a better alternative. These cheats  give the player an edge on the battlefield by strengthening their own military units. Packing a harder punch is usually enough to tip the scales decisively in the player's favor. They include:

  • the fighters are coming in too fast - Air Forces Become Faster
  • intensify the forward firepower - Ground Forces Become Stronger
  • SUDDENLY SILENCED - Buildings & Units Inflict More Damage
  • The Force Is Strong With This One - Jedi Turning Is Sharper
  • The Most Powerful Jedi - Stronger Jedi

These cheats can make an already impressive force even more deadly. Missions can still be completed quite easily when the player's armies are buffed to this extent. Of course, if players felt bad about cheating, they wouldn't have done it in the first place. Right?
