Game of the Year editions are the rage these days with publishers on all consoles finding second life in their sales by re-releasing titles as a premium package. Now, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed has joined the likes of Little Big Planet and Gears of War, attempting to woo gamers who may have passed on the title originally, by offering the original game at a discounted price packaged with some added bonuses.

If you’re unfamiliar with original release, Force Unleashed reveals the untold story of Darth Vader's "Secret Apprentice." The story was supervised by George Lucas and depicts events that occurred between Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, as Vader covertly attempts to overthrow the Emperor.

Keeping in line with many other Game of the Year style releases, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed “Ultimate Sith Edition” includes all previous DLC releases, which means you’ll be getting the Jedi Temple and Tatooine levels  - both of which offer alternate versions to the Star Wars canon. Exclusive to the “Ultimate Sith Edition” is a new level, Planet Hoth, where Vader’s apprentice faces-off against Luke Skywalker. Buyers will also receive a special-issue art book, limited edition collector’s cards, and premium packaging, all at a discounted price of $39.99 (you can still pick up the standard edition for $19.99). Star Wars: The Force Unleashed “Ultimate Sith Edition” also marks the arrival of the title to the PC market.

The game does not offer any updated graphics or other performance enhancements — which is definitely a missed opportunity considering the numerous problems in the original release. Expect the same troubling controls, frame-rate issues, and a few uninspired missions.

If you almost bought Star Wars: The Force Unleashed when it was released in September 2008, and still wonder what could have been, this package may be attractive enough to finally get your Sith-on. For anyone who passed on the original release and haven’t looked back — there’s probably not much here to whet your appetite.
