The recent release of Star Wars Episode 1: Racer on PS4 and Nintendo Switch was met with both excitement and disappointment. Excitement, because it's the return of a 20-year old classic Star Wars game rich with nostalgia, but disappointment as well because it's a very barebones port. Worse yet, Star Wars Episode 1: Racer had some unfortunate issues with glitchy motion controls after launch. Issues that now appear to have been rectified.

Aspyr Media, the studio behind the new Star Wars Racer port, recently confirmed on Twitter that a patch had been issued for the game. The patch is now available and is said to resolve certain issues with motion controls across both the Nintendo Switch and the PS4. Aspyr believes these to be the issues players were widely encountering, but there's a chance another issue slipped under the radar, so it asks fans to contact the with any unresolved problems.

Turnaround for the issue was surprisingly quick. Star Wars Racer launched on June 23. That same day, Aspyr issued a statement on Twitter acknowledging that players on PS4 were having problems with motion controls. The patch was then issued three days later.

In addition to the now available fix for Star Wars Racer's motion controls, Aspyr has also rededicated itself to a previously announced feature.  The game was announced to have local multiplayer for the Nintendo Switch. LAN play will allow the game to be played by several Switch players using the console as a handheld who have grouped up. The featured is being worked on and will be added in a future update.

As an addendum to confirmation that LAN multiplayer is coming to the Nintendo Switch, Aspyr also reconfirmed that online multiplayer is not a planned feature.

For the price that Aspyr is asking for, just $14.99, Star Wars Racer is still a great option for gamers looking for something fun and nostalgic. It's clear Aspyr is taking the release of the game very seriously, patching a significant issue in just a few days' time. It's even adding a cool feature just for Nintendo Switch players in the relatively near future. It's a great way to keep such a classic game in relevance despite Star Wars games and media changing so dramatically over the years.

Star Wars Episode 1: Racer is available now on PC, PS4, and Switch.
