As if Dave Filoni's new job title at Lucasfilm wasn't enough, the golden boy of Star Wars is now getting what some might consider an even bigger honor. After earning years of praise for his work on shows from The Clone Wars to The Mandalorian and beyond, Filoni will now be an officially licensed action figure. Finally, he's achieved the same level of fame as Yak Face.

Hasbro has just unveiled the newest member of their Black Series action figure family. Standing at an imposing 6 in (15.24 cm), this fresh face bears the likeness of Filoni's New Republic pilot Trapper Wolf, whom he appeared as in 2 episodes of The Mandalorian. Fans will recognize his character as one of the pilots who helpfully blew up a criminal-run space station in season 1 and saved Din Djarin (the titular Mandalorian) from certain death at the mandibles of ice spiders in season 2. Yep, that sounds like something someone named Trapper Wolf would do.

This figure is part of a limited release, meant to commemorate Filoni's accomplishments over the years as one of the key creative figures behind the Star Wars brand. So anyone looking to snag one might want to keep their typing thumbs at the ready for when it becomes available at Hasbro's PulseCon 2021 toy event this fall. Unfortunately, no specific date has been given for the event as of yet.

It even includes some pretty snazzy packaging, bearing an illustrated rendition of Trapper on the side and separate slots for the included blaster and helmet. It's got plenty of poseable joints on its arms and legs, and Filoni's own instantly recognizable mug adorns the pilot's face with enough radiance to shine even while covered by the helmet. Hey, don't tease. Everybody gets star struck sometimes, particularly when Star Wars legend is around.

Filoni's plastic counterpart is the latest in a bit of a tradition involving the creators behind Star Wars appearing in cameos and subsequently being immortalized in action figure form. George Lucas himself has enjoyed this treatment several times over, with a number of figures releasing over the years bearing his face, even if some of them never appeared in any of the official media. That honor even extended to the Lucas family, who all appeared as various characters in Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Yet the underdogs Tag and Bink still haven't gotten their due. What a tragedy.

The Trapper Wolf figure is pretty clearly aimed at collectors, and considering its $29.99 USD price tag, odds are it'll fly off the shelves both digital and physical once it becomes available. But even aside from that, congrats are in order for Mr. Filoni, and here's hoping he's got lots more love to give to the Star Wars series. Maker knows the fans still have plenty for him.

The Trapper Wolf Black Series figure will be available for purchase at the Hasbro Pulse website when PulseCon 2021 launches.
