On Star Wars Day last week, Disney Plus released a new feature exploring the process behind The Book of Boba Fett. Titled Disney Gallery: The Book of Boba Fett, it reveals some pretty cool looks at a few of the show's most exciting moments. While the series itself received some pretty mixed reviews, it's hard to deny just how impactful a few of its more fan-pleasing moments were. Now, fans can get a bit of an inside glimpse at what made a few of them so great.

Naturally, one aspect shown off includes a look at the rancor, famously cared for by Danny Trejo and ridden by Boba himself. But the real magic comes from shots of Mark Hamill on set during the segments featuring Luke Skywalker. While he didn't exactly show up on-screen in the final product, the veteran Star Wars actor was pretty intimately involved with the filming process, even to the point where he got to meet "Baby Yoda" himself, Grogu.

It's no secret that Luke Skywalker was portrayed by a stand-in (actor Graham Hamilton) during the shooting of the show. But with his face replaced by an impressive deepfake and the character's voice recreated using some strange methods, it's understandable that not a lot of people will connect his name to the character. But it turns out that Hamill was actually more involved than some might have expected, as shown by the footage and a collection of photos from Disney Gallery: The Book of Boba Fett.

While on set, Hamill acted out what appears to be most of Luke's scenes, particularly ones involving interactions with the Grogu puppet. Meanwhile, Hamilton also acted them out, with the VFX team combining the two performances together afterward. So while Luke's face and voice were more machine than man, it seems as though that really was Hamill on-screen during The Book of Boba Fett. Apparently, Grogu's appearance in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga isn't the only time where the little guy met up with some classic characters.

The rest of the images are worth seeing too, with a couple of them offering glimpses at the rideable rancor rig before all the CGI brought it to life. But perhaps the most gleefully enjoyable shots involve Hamill interacting with his co-stars, including Hamilton and Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka. One image shows off a geeked-out Dawson (as pretty much anybody would be in the presence of such sci-fi royalty). Just imagine Ahsoka getting starstruck over seeing Luke, which would be a bit strange given her history with his dad. Aside from that, a shot of Hamilton looks almost uncannily like Luke even before the CGI replacement. Maybe the makeup artists are just that good.

The pictures are one thing, but there's plenty more to see in Disney Gallery: The Book of Boba Fett. Just like its previous iteration focusing on The Mandalorian, which recently finished filming its 3rd season, it's got plenty of behind-the-scenes goodies for anybody who wants a little more to whet their appetites during the wait for more. Of course, one can always forego watching it if they'd prefer to keep believing it's all magic. It's very tempting.

Disney Gallery: The Book of Boba Fett is available to stream on Disney Plus.
